Because they are just locking threads left and right over there. And I'm not talking about people posting dumb crap that deserves to be locked. I'm talking about people actually voicing their dissent and disappointments in the game.

I'm awestruck by how awful AOC ended up being. In-game and also with their policies.

The MMO genre needs innovators. People not afraid to deviate from the "WoW is an ATM machine" mentality and think outside the box to make something truly different and fun. I'm sick of paying $50 for virtual treadmills.

Unfortunately the WAR developers decided to have no official forums at all.

I like that though....more time for them to concentrate on the game and get it done instead of worrying about some forums!  Also look at how much more content and details has also been released about WAR with no forums, than AoC with forums!

Its kind of a blessing and a bad idea at the same time.

But, I think after a while they will open forums due to demand (because running down game info on multiple sites is about as fun getting whipped when you have a sunburn...)

No official forums was never an issue for DAOC.

True,

But in this day and age people love to have a soapbox to preach/whine from.

I tend to avoid most main forums unless I am looking for a collection of game tweaks in the event there is a hardware/game conflict. The tech forums are the only ones I really use.

You can either agree with me or be wrong!

Ridiculous, the only difference it makes is diverting some money to support forums and moderators, it doesn't take anything away from gamedevelopment.

Actually that is pretty much why Mark doesn't want official forums and I have to say its one of the few things I agree on.

Not to imply anything about you personally as I don't have any reason to but..

If every useless/idiot post in the AoC forums was deleted.. they'd almost be empty.

Oh and to clear something up in case you wonder.. ya I suppose I could be a funcom fanboi on a random day.  However, my AoC account was already placed in cancel mode.. which was how I voiced my dissent.  No locked thread required.  I left them a nice little feedback in the box provided when I hit cancel.. if they want to read it (much better place for that.. than the forums).

As a customer I don't have to know how to make a better game than you. I just need to know where the cancel button is.

I think it actually depend on how's the game release is like. If its so problematic  like AoC than flame will start to kick in, and even though the site does not belong to Mythic, those moderators of the forum will still delete any negative thread.

Than we will see which forum we can really trust for real info.... Anyway if mythic deletes thread it will also  ruin their reputation, so its better to let others do the job. Jjust my personal opinion.

RIP, Orc Choppa

They will have customer support, so I do not see what you mean.
