Star Wars Galaxies, R.I.P. NGE was your final death blow.

if this list is supposed to be THE most recent who's who of MMo's...then us SWG vets have to redouble our efforts....SMED should be nowhere on this list...but only get mentioned when telling stock holders how NOT to treat it's customers....

We are losing the war in the media....and it's fought and won there my friends.

the only other possible conclusion i can come to is that this article is a fluff piece meant to foster love for it's sponsors by the companies they're fluffing....(leaning more on this theory at this point)

Being Influential does not always mean in a good way.

Aldolph Hitler and Joseph Stalin were pretty  influential in world history. Does that make them good peeps?

In all fairness Smed was a high roller for some time.  He has more  MMO exposure than most other CEOs.  He obtained many prime IPs like Star Wars and DC Comics.  He helped launch a publishing division and has helped launch more MMOs than most companies have released themselves.  Lets not forget he also helped launched the blockbuster EQ.

I'm sure he is somewhat looked upon as an aging rock star in the industry.  Not doing much anymore, but he was there back in the day.

The sad reality is that there are smaller game companies and independants that are out performing his stable of mismanged titles.  To go even further many of the props given above have turned into prime examples of how not to do things in the industry.  It has been a long fall for the former industry leader.

Yep, if he is good at one thing, it is shifting blame. This is how he has maintained his position. He plays the game very well.

I took a three day vacation and bought that magazine hoping it would be a good read.  What a disappointment.  I get more information online than in that rag. Seemed like half the magazine was ads.  So pandering to those who pay their bills...not surprising.

The problem is, among the media, he has managed to shift blame for the problems to LEC. Aided by his loyal followers and hordlings, his people have spammed forums and the dirty deed has been done. As I said, he is good st playing ONE game -- blameshifting.

He managed to shift blame for SWG's failure FIRST to Koster, then to WoW, then to a hidden Cabal against him, and ultimately, to the heavy, almighty hand of Lucas Arts (a ludicrous proposition, to be sure, being as SONY dwarfs LEC by several orders of magnitude).

He has managed to bully all MMO sites, while LEC has essentiially stayed out of the fray.

He has won, no question about that. Everyone else has lost, which is a pity.
