The knights who say NIIII |
I recently decided to come back to EQ2 after not playing for a couple years, I didnt get far in the game and felt I really didnt get to see all it had to offer. I called all around my area today, to 2 diffrent EB's and Circuit City and found that only 1 of the EB stores had 1 copy left and after that they werent carrying it anymore after there stock was out, the same went for circuit city. Luckily I got that last copy so I wouldnt have to order it online, when I buy a game i like to have the box and not just download it and get the key from places like D2D for instance. What I dont understand is why the game isnt sold at more retail stores for people who wanna pick up the game again or start playing for the first time. I feel like all retailers are catering to is pretty much WOW and the newest games that come out like AOC etc. |

Best Buy has several copies near me. EB and CC just don't give PC games the consideration that BB does. |

its been like this since they moved to the yearly expansion shedule with expansions including full game and all older expansions. the retailers just order the game boxes when expansion is fresh, and it usually gets more or less sold out by summer. from then till next expansion launch you usually have to rely on online shops that sell you the keys. not sure if the problem is that soe does not deliver enough boxes later on, or if its the retailers not ordering boxes in the fear that they have the more or less worthless boxes lieing around when next expansion hits. |

It's damn hard in the UK to find a copy of EQ2 in stores nowadays. You will get the odd store with a copy of the original game (with no expansions or anything) in the bargain bin for like £5 but then I have only ever seen like 3 copies of the Rise of Kunark set with everything in and I contacted that same store yesterday and they said they don't have it in anymore and they won't be stocking it. I think SOE need to focus on getting the game on shelves if they want subcriber numbers up, I don't think the general public who are looking for a new MMO will want to be downloading everything online and buying the game as a digital download, they will walk in to a store and pick it up off the shelf as it is 10 times easier. |

Best Buy, Circuit City have a ton in my area (all being the kunark box). Gamestop has like 4 copies of WoW and thats it, across the 10 Gamestop/EBs within 5 miles of here (Its like Dunkins now, cant sneeze without hitting one) But thats about it for PC games. Gamestop is more like a console game pawn shop and preorder depot these days. |

It's actually funny that you meantion this. My girlfriend plays EQ2 and yesterday we were out and about and decided to pick up the new Ris of Kunark expansion. I had seen it at Circuit City before but they didn't have any this time. So I checked at Gamestop. I'm not sure why I bothered but I did. Of course they didn't have it. Gamestop is nothing but a WoW shrine. I hate those little pricks in there. Is it me or is every single Gamestop clerk a pretentious, WoW playing smart ass? Anyway best thing to do is order a box copy online. |

Originally posted by ElJackyl Man, I remember going in there when WoW BC was coming out. I was looking for a PSP game for my nephew, and as soon as I entered the store, I was asked if I was interested in pre ordering BC. I was nice and said no thanks to the girl. Made it half way to the wall of used games when another clerk emerged from the backroom. He saw me and like a vulture on a dead cow, "Welcome to Gamestop. Would you like to preorder TBC?" I replied "No, but I am looking for-" and he cuts me off with an "Ok, I'll be up there (points to counter) if you need any help" and quickly went to his register. On my way out I run into the third employee. He started the "Are you looking to pre order The Burning..." when I cut him off and walked out of the store. And then last month, thinking it would be safe to go game shopping... Walk into another Gamestop (the one that is less than 100ft from the other) and went to preorder MGS4. No problem. Girl rings up the pre order and I am just about to leave when I hear "Are there any other preorders your interested in? Wrath of the Litch king will be coming out soon..." |
