I ran the System Req. Lab Test. It said that I met all the mimimum requirements, but on the recommended, I was BARELY below on the processor and it said I should have Vista instead of the Windows XP SP2 that I have. Everything else passed on the recommended settings.

I have a Dell XPS M1310 laptop with 2GB, GEO Force 7900 GEO Force GTX (upgraded the latest drivers), 2.33Ghz Dual Core Intel Processor, I can make space on my Harddrive after I delete Lord of the Rings Online and Everquest II lol. I know for a fact that I cannot upgrade the Video Card, but possible the 2GB I can (not sure until I call Dell).

Anyway, if all I can play is on the lowest settings, I probably wont be interested, but maybe medium settings. I run Elder Scrolls Oblivion on very high settings with no issues, and LOFTRO on mostly high settings with no issues.

Any suggestions? What do you think my experience will be like settings wise? What is the impact of the processor as compared to the video card and the 2GB. I was under the impression that the latter two are the  most important.

Thanks! :-)

You're stepping on the line, I wouldn't bother if you don't want to play on low settings. It's mainly that shitty graphics card holding you back.

@ OP:

A little correction here.

The manufacturer of your video card is called nVidia, and the model of there cards are reffered to as the " GeForce" line of video products, not the GEO Force.

Just figured you'd like to know.

Also, medium settings would be pushing it on that system, I'll be surprised if you don't have to run it on primarily low settings.

It is unlikely that you will be able to run AoC on anything other than the lower settings.  Your video card is going to be a real problem.

If you can run EQ2 or V:SoH on high graphics settings, you might be able to run AoC on some of the lower settings.

Best bet is to wait for a Trial or for the Buddy Key program to be activated.

My rig is a bit better than your's but I'll relate my experience with you in case it helps.

Opteron 175 (2.4ghz dual core)

8800GT 512mb

3 gigs RAM

With these specs I run on low-med settings with these results

~ 10 - 30 fps in open zones, depending on population/zone

~40 fps on average in solo instances

~1-8 fps in group dungeons

The game looks fine and runs alright while outdoors.  I get alot of popping in due to view distance, and some occasional stutters.  The real problem is grouping with your peers in group dungeons, IF we are the only group in the area I can function but if there are any others my framerate floors to ~1 fps until all combat ceases.  Arena pvp can cause some problems but only when both teams stick together.  The game is playable for me but sometimes I do feel like I'm locked out of some content because of my rig.

As far as other games go, I can run every other game I own on maximum, the most demanding being Oblivion, Frontlines, and Bioshock with relative ease.  I don't have a problem with the game being resource intensive, but I think the reqs they put on the box are a joke for anyone who doesn't play hermit in the mountains.
