Evil triumphs when good men do nothing.

This is one aspect of modern MMO's that sucks right now. Where is the killing and looting? This was why I played earlier MMO's. It was exciting, exhilerating, and FUN. That is what's missing in most MMO's these days. Nowadays it is just endless grind . Now there is no penalty to dying. You die, go back, and kill the same monsters. Remember when your hands sweated and your heart rate was actually above normal? It was a challenge and if you were good enough you got a reward.

I know i will get flamed for this, but Runescape had one of best kill and loots systems I have experienced. You have no idea what 100+ vs 100+ all out war, with no lag, is like. It was crazy and get this, the winners won everything while the losers lost everything. That is how it should be. It seems as if Aoc was trying to get as 'real' as they could get with the graphics but they have no kill and loot?? I thought aoc was supposed to a gritty and violent world but you dont lose anything when you die? Just seems to go agaisnt all the advertising funcom did for the the aoc world.

why do humans build, because it isn''t there

Runescape is an ex-indy game so they could afford taking the risk player loot, EvE is an ex-indy game so they could take the risk of player loot, wurmonline is still an indy game and they have player loot(even massive skill loss at higher levels for all deaths).

if a AAA mmo ever comes out with a PvP loot system I'll be utterly surprised.  So go drool elsewhere AAA developers will not risk the 20+ mill budgets that people for some insanely stupid reason demand.

Scale of Development: Hobbiest, Micro-Indy, Indy, BB, AAA.

Been tried didn't have mass appeal so it was abandoned.  The only thing full loot did was make people run around with crap gear.  Stuff you didn't care if you lost or not.  And why you would want to take that is beyond me.

Insanely stupid? Looting was fun, it was challenging. I guess your one of those people who cried like a baby when you lost your items? Typical.

I'm afraid you take it all way too seriously. I know it might be hard for you to understand and you are not expected to, but these are games. People play them for enjoyment and if they are not enjoying themselves they move on.

Players are not more or less manly for playing video games and anyone out there who thinks so needs serious, serious help.

However, to your point, I'm sorry that there aren't more games like this as clearly there are a "few" people who like them. I just don't think the majority do.

how can you be so insulting to that person when this is your sig:

Evil triumphs when good men do nothing.

Here's an idea. Be a good man.

exactly, they ran around in crap gear which made it harder to handle the mobs they would normally be equally pitted against. Consider pre-expansion Ultima Online. Full looting, full pvp world rules, Real World 'do whatever you can physically do' rules. Player looting along with PK penalties (perma red and attackable, unable to use city banks or enter cities without going incognito, etc etc) made the game fun for both sides of the field, people doing random PvE would maybe once a week get pk'd or attempted to be pk'd, and the pk's could go out and pk everyday without worry of people storming the forums and complaining lol, it was based off d&d (NOT DDO) so the rules allowed for anything physically capable of happening, besides, player looting is fun!

let me tell you a story

It was UO, somewhere after the T2A expansion I THINK lol, because we had colored armor *not dyed, just colored ore* anyways..

I was sitting at occlo bank pretending to be pimp, my guy Misery on Baja server was a mix of a mage and a swordsman, and i always wore an ugly red robe to hide my armor lol. A buddy of mine shows up naked, not even 30mins after I gave him a bunch of custom charcoal plate, and says he was at the orc fort and got jumped by a bunch of pk's. I, being a stalker-PK (i dont just attack, i enjoy the one-sided RP like stalking or talking or convincing them to do stuff.. and THEN attacking!!), decided well screw it im not doing anything, i'll go get his stuff back. So I recall to the orc fort and run in, and sure enough theres 3 guys there who start taunting me, I ask if they killed my buddy drake macbroedan, they laugh say yes, so i spend about 5mins trying to convince them to attack me because they were blue (at this point, you had to kill 3-5 people in a week or two to become red and attackable without penalty) now, i already had 2-3 kills under my belt for the week, so i wasnt wanting to attack all 3 of them and go red and have to macro in a house for 3 days straight to be blue again, so i keep taunting them, they're running circles around me talking trash. So I get fed up, pick one, and lay him out with explosion/eb, his buddy runs up with some melee wep prob a sword or mace, i explo/eb him and sword him down, his other buddy was trying to cast on me to little success and i think i caught him right when he tried to run, anyways.. the point is, i totally owned the pk's because i was obviously a better pk, and i got my buddies armor back, i recall back to occlo bank and BOOM (this was after a few patches that made guards unkillable and pop-up with insta-kill 1 hit to reds/thieves etc) a guard pops and insta kills me before i can even see the bank appear lol. Everybody starts running up and looting my RED corpse (whoops, guess i should've checked before I recalled to town) but it turns out that everyone who looted my stuff was a friend of mine, so i convinced everyone to give all my stuff to drake macb to hold for me, not to mention the armor was his.

The point is, properly done player looting and player-killer penalties, can make a game just that much more fun.

me called a care bear that's mildly amusing.

aside from that companies won't spend your 20 million to make a game with looting in it.  It's too risky for the company to risk losing player base due to it, and losing future player base due to them ranting in forums.

enjoy the indy-ish games that will eventually come out, BBB grade isn't that much worse off if they designed their systems right(software).

Scale of Development: Hobbiest, Micro-Indy, Indy, BB, AAA.

PK penalties is that a joke? Ohes noes my name is red whatever will I do.  Bounties yeah that really detered people.  Both systems are way to easy to exploit.

I'd love a free for all system like UO had if people are willing to accept real consequences for their actions.  Not only pkers but people that aid and assist.  Risk vs reward Bleh pks risked very little but were rewarded greatly.

Kill/loot PvP  died out for a reason.

-Currently Looking forward to SGW and Fallen Earth. If they suck then I give up...
