Let's look at some things in common shall we.
-Incredibly popular with the casual playerbase -Incredibly well done starting area's/content -little to no end game content -missing features that were promised at launch, and in both cases on the back of the purchasable box. -very very little player to dev communication -devs seem to think they know better than the players what the game needs - bugs bugs bugs - terrible crafting
There is nothing in this game past tortage, I was a huge fan of the game till I left that area. I'm telling you, once I left the noobie area, I said to myself...what is there to do now? I'm not a noob anymore, what can I do. I could not think of anything, so I posted on the official forums asking what I should do. I got 101 responses, and the only answers I got were 1. roleplay and 2. reroll. That is literally what is waiting for you fanboy's once you get into the higher levels. Items mean absolutely nothing in AoC, so hunting them does nothing for you, even if the dungeons had itemization (which they don't). - No pvp levels/rewards - No sieges - no player cities - completely unbalanced classes - spending points on skills does NOTHING. spend 300 points on run speed...and run the same speed.
I really feel like this game is tabula rasa with SWG developers. They actually came on the forums and said "ignore the forum complainers" "I see a 20 to 1 ratio of those having fun to not in the game" I don't know what game he is playing, I don't see that in the game at all, and I played on PvE and PvP. Praise the game all you want, but legendary games are not made on hopes and promises, there has to actually be something there to begin with. This will fade away from the scene like TR, VG and all the other games that released with "promises" as content.

I don't know if I agree with you or not. Yeah Tortage is basically it. After you get out the game straight sucks. It will get better in due time and it feels like I'm paying to play a beta which I honestly don't like. So Funcom is about to lose my 15 a month, but not for any of these reasons. I just don't like any of the classes in this game. |

I agree with you for the most part. And its sad to say that cause i was reallllllllly looking foward to this game. Apparently way too much. I do have some fun outside of Tortage by the lamest way, which is to gank other players with one-sided RP.... Its actually quite interesting. Like if I see a person running along the road, I will stalk them for about 10 minutes, in hide mode of course, and then kill them whenever I feel like it. Maybe I'll pretend that they are carrying vital information on a note that burns away when they die because I can't loot, then the roleplayness fades away. eh |

Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic |
You said there is no player city but my guild already built a tier 1 city. And you also said there is no sieging but you would not know that because no one has a tier 3 city yet and guilds need that to start sieging. I dont know about running points as I never raised that but i do know that my hiding points does help as I have tested it out with a cape that gives me 19 points of hiding. |

completely disagree with this as well. I'm LOVING AoC and I absolutely hate TR. I love sci-fi by the way so that isn't the reason. |

Originally posted by gauge2k3- Incredibly popular with the hardcore playerbase. - Tabula Rasa's starting area sucked hard. - WTF are you talking about?! There are quite a few end game 24-man raid instances (5 if I remember correctly) spread into 3 tiers. There are two end game 6 man instances, and there are PvP minigames and BK PvP too. - I agree. - There's actually quite a bit of Dev to Player interaction via AoC forums. - Well, seeing as they developed the game, they probably do, you need to get your head out of your ass if you really think that they don't take what players say at all, and it's a good thing they don't do everything players say, partly because people bitch and whine when they get owned in PvP and cry nerf. - Yep. - AoC crafting does suck. - After Tortage you quest to hit max level like every other MMO, if you cannot deal with that this isn't the genre for you. -Gear makes quite a bit more of a difference than people like to believe, although not nearly as much as WoW. - Showing how much you know about the game... Run speed is one of the non broken skills, 100 points = 1%, it doesn't sound like much but if you're level 80 and you have an extra 8% run speed it helps a whole lot in PvP. - Most players I talk to ingame, despite being annoyed by bugs, which AoC has plenty of, are quite happy and can see the games potential and Funcom's willingness to fix bugs and class imbalance issues, which is quite obvious with the amount of patching lately. |

Originally posted by mcburly I do not agree with the post either. Also, the comments of "nothing to do after Tortage" are way off. Everyone, including Funcom, agrees that much more meaningful content is needed after 50th but so far I have two characters leveled up high enough to know. I have a Cimerrian and a Stygian and the zone after level 20 for each had MASSIVE amounts of quests and things to do. My guild has a city going strong with at least 8 buildings so far. I do have a complaint that the city buff's either are not in place or you cannot tell that they are. Not sure which. Anyway, The two games are not at all alike and I have played both. |
