Age of Conan

Ok so everyone and their mamma (including me) have vented our frustration about AoC and why it is bad or degrading the MMO world and all that jazz.  However, I still play the game and deeply enjoy the time I do play it.

1. It's friggin' Conan!

My mom is a HUGE Conan fan.  She has read every novel and comic.  She hates the movies because they butchered the franchise.  When she say the intro video she was actually excited and wanted to watch me play.  She said they captured Conan's likeness to the letter; from voice, looks, and attitude.

The lore in this game is very strong and accurate to the novels.  They even have qutoes from the novels on the loading screens.  The main story is great for an MMO.  Too bad it slows down after level 20.

2.  Great small party game

My friend and I group up on weekends and completely own at this game.  It is extremely fun when we share quest and we both take on the single player dungeons. (multiple people can join these dungeons if they are grouped and have the same quest.)

My friend is a console player, and he is sick of the auto attack MMO combat.  Everytime we play he gets excited at the fighting system.  He says "Damn this #$%$# is like Playstation.  Bringing back Mark of Kri memories with multiplayer added onto it."

Out of all the MMO games, this game is the only one I have truly enjoyed just performing a duo with me and my friend.  The rest jsut seemed like business as usual.

3.  Great PvE combat

The PvE combat is challenging and extremely fun.  This is not an MMO but a multiplayer action RPG.  I run into a lot of difficult fights and feel the adrenaline rush when they are over.  Grouping is also very fun when people are actually forced to.  There is combat challenges.

4.  Of course the graphics

No elves or dwarves.  Just humans.  Real looking humans with really damn good customization.  Nice graphics even though they chug.

5.  It's a AAA title with good advertising and a large member base

I can't stand a low population dead MMO.  I like being in those crowded zones.  I like seeing the OOC chat filled with idiots, noobs, and intellects all bickering or enjoying themselves while I quest.  Aoc has a million copies sold, and none of the servers are dead.  I like a lively Action RPG.

These are the good things I see in this game, they are the reason I keep playing.

That is however the only flaw with the OP's post. He is entitled to his opinion (this time a positive one).

For the record, Funcom has officially confirmed 500.000 accounts activated (which translates to units sold) some time ago. The 1M number is related to boxes produced and delivered to retailers and not to actual sales. That means that the demand from the market was present, but it doesn't mean that those units were sold.

If its fun play it, if its not don't, anything in between is just personal preference.
