The game isnt finish by a longshot. But u can se it like this; if you pay for the box and a montlhy fee you are allowed to Beta test a playable version. And u can follow the progress from patch to patch. It defenatelys deals with traditionally marketing thinking though. In competetions with Warhammer and Aion - if theese games actually are 1.0 versions when released, i dont think AOC would have had much of a chance to compeete. I will prolly play AOC untill one of those titles, or WoTLK is out. Then i have this small hope that either Warhammer or Aion actually live up to the whole "next gen MMO, 4-fucking- years after vanillia WoW" state, that we should expect the MMo type of games to have achieved. I mean; isnt todays computers real powerhouses compared to early 2k ones?? Honestly, if i should advise a complely MMORPG virgin in buying either World of Warcaft or Age of conan, there would be absolutely no doubt which game i would recomend. Go buy the game developed in the late 90`s!

Unless your a die hard MMO fan and you are dying to get to play a AAA MMO, I think the smartest thing to do is wait. You know what? Id love to play AoC, but I dont feel like popping 50 bucks out of my pocket, thats alot of dough for something I may never pick up again. After watching videos and doing some research on the state of the game; AoC is like many other MMO's at launch; plagued with bugs, missing content, unbalanced classes etc. However, many casuals can look past this fact and still have fun in the game. Hell you can have fun up until level 40ish, so I hear, until you have to start "looking for quests". Highly instanced - imagine guild wars with larger zones and filled with people. No endgame content? Thats probably the biggest flaw and really a shame on you, Funcom. But some more casual people are able to look past the flaws and simply have fun. FFA PvP is a blast and we havent seen that from a AAA developer in a long time. Personally, I could probably look past the flaws since Im more of a solo'r not a guildy. So it all comes down to this: If your on the fence, wait 4 or 5 months for Funcom to do their thing. Funcom may have released an MMO that should have had a couple more months of beta testing, so let the masses test the game and Funcom to release the rest of the content. The beauty of this is the fact that in waiting these 4 or 5 months, WAR is coming right around the corner and I doubt they will push it back. WAR is heading into Public closed beta which is one of the last stages of game development. We should probably see a release in the fall or Chrismas. By that point, AoC should have fixed most of its problems for you to make an accurate judgement of which game you should buy. Plus the buddy keys would be out as well. So I would say, wait until fall-winter time of this year before you go upgrading your computer to play this game. Dont worry, Conan is still gonna be there :) |

Haven't noticed females attacking slower.... had two females from a guild working as a team on Stormrage (FFA PvP), level 20s, and they were double-teaming and ganking 25-29s left and right. So apparently either they knew what they were doing or they haven't noticed the slowdown either. Ran the game first on two HD3650 ATI cards in Crossfire and it ran just fine, averaging about 26-32 fps on medium to high custom settings. My current card is a single HD3870 x2 and I'm averaging 38-56 fps, jumping into the 70-90 range in less congested areas on maximum settings with some tweaks above the default max. Many PC gamers for some reason simply can't seem to reconcile themselves to the fact that you actually need to do some tweaking to get the best combination of performance and visuals. They just throw on the medium setting and complain when performance is less than expected. Sometimes it's just one or two settings that make all the difference; reduce the amount of foliage, limit the number of shadows, reduce your view distance for landscape, remove grass, etc. All of these minor tweaks still yield excellent visuals in AoC and improve your performance. Also, some people think that just because their video card supports a certain level of shading that it should do so under all circumstances flawlessly. Just because your card manufacturer states that X card supports Shader Model 3, that doesn't mean that you will get the same performance on every single game where you use Shader Model 3. Tweaks... for a PC gamer, it's de rigeur. For class imbalance, about the only real complaint I have so far is the same complaint I had in DAoC and just about any other MMORPG that features PvP; stuns, mezzes and holds. The maxim should really be all or nothing in this area. If you plan on giving stuns, mezzes and holds to one class, you should just plan on giving them to every class. That way, the Haven't had any involvement with player cities, so I can't really comment, nor with socketed items. So I'll take the player's word for it who have had experience in those areas. Overall, the game has played smoothly from the moment I installed it to the current date. The quests are interesting and playing on a FFA PvP server really enhances the feeling of danger and excitement, particularly when you have those quests that require a lot of travel. |

there is endgame content people are already raiding - as you can see from pics in this link
Funcoms statement on endgame content forums.ageofconan.com/showthread.php we have raid dungeons in our game with loot to match the effort. Kyllikki’s Crypt, Yakhmar’s Cave and The Dragon’s Lair are all awaiting visitors. After that, when you feel ready, the massive Black Ring Citadel bids you welcome. |

The game crashing if you mouse over an armor/weapon that you have put in a crafted gem? Crafted items beeing useless or crafting quests not working or need you to log out after every craft? Party bugs where you can not invite people, not summon them to your instance if they are in a party but in a different instance (usually one of 10 instances) {...}
I could continue with more but for me the game is dead and i have canceled my subscription already. Content is repetitive and shallow. It has ZERO replay value with a different character as you play the same linear 20 levels and then you do the same Quests again afterwards. This is a glorified single player game with online functionality that is bugged beyond repair and a virtually non existing crafting system.
Good luck, KJ |
