LOTRO is the only game out there that offers 9.99 month fees, shouldn't other games look at it and start doing the same? if LOTRO can survive that way why others can't? |

I thought the lifetime sub was great. For $199 - I can play the game with any free updates until the servers shut down. Not too shabby :) |

I do wish all would keep their monthly fees to $9.99 personally. I usually only play one MMO at a time, but I would probably play two if the prices were less than $15. That starts to get too pricey to invest in more than one game. |

Frankly, I think even the $14.99/month rate is living on borrowed time. It's been at that level for four or five years now. I doubt that currently released games would have rate increases, but I'd definitely expect to see $17.99 or even $19.99 monthly fees for new releases in the next couple of years. The main impediment right now is the fact that the U.S. economy is faltering, and luxuries are the first things people give up when money is tight. It may take years for the market to equalize due to the housing issues, but I'd certainly expect a price increase for subscriptions when it does. |

You can eveb buy lotro 9.99 now !!! Turbine is making a a mark in the current economy, think it is one of the only games developers that have enough subscribers to offer this kind of plan :D |

Is it over yet... |
Turbine certainly took early proactive measures to assure the general public could afford the game. I suppose they may have foreseen a lower subscriber base so they wanted to keep the subscribers they had. Which they seem to have achieved. In the time I've played LOTRO almost no one in my guild has left. |
