I'm not an american and I canceled my account some days ago. Pity Cause I love Conan, the books and setting that is. The game needs more time, alot more.

Honesty is the best policy, but insanity is a better defense.

What the heck do you mean by that? Since when it matters where the internet forum is located? I am not american and I agree with most of what has been said here. And I bet I am not the only one. Just because I am an European am I supposed to lie about the state of game just because Funcon (intentional misspell) is in Norway?

it's wrong.

Do people expect an MMO to release without flaws? I need a serious answer here.

Why the hell not?

Do you expect to rent a recently-built office building to have working bathrooms, electricity, working doors? a few broken door handles is one thing, but entire sub-systems not present or not working?

Moreover, do you expect to pay the rent on said office building while the builders fix it? Esepcially when the builders said on the lease that all features were working.

The software industry should be held to the same levels of basic accountability & merchantable quality that every other industry has.

Agreed. The more people forgive shoddy games and use the "It will be patched" mentality, the more the companies willing the companies are to release broken games. The apologists are doing nothing more than bending over and letting the companies have their way with them. Hell, it has gotten so bad that even console games are being released in poor states with a promise of a patch to fix them.

A few bugs here and there are expected, like maybe trees showing the wrong texture in a certain area or maybe like my poor ranger going bald sometimes when she changes zones. But to be missing complete aspects of the game when its listed on the box or touted by the devs as a major selling point is not acceptable and should not be accepted no matter what excuse they come up with.

I think it's a question of how much do you actually want to play a new game, that actually offers something new.

They do have some new things, or at least improved in AoC: combat system, spellweaving, graphics improved.

There's alot of things that can malfunction or have errors.

It's a risk most mature people understand if they take the time to research how MMO-releases works.

Sure we could have had an almost flawless AoC launch,

- but do you want to play the game now or wait perhaps 5 more years that it might take to get it as flawless as a single player game?

MMO companies know that they can launch a buggy game to a certain extent yes, but it's because players are willing to play the game with a certain amount of bugs.

I know I am, I notice some of the bugs, and for those that know what they want from AoC, knows to appreciate the new stuff, and want MMO's to go in a certain direction, they wont be so bothered with the game that they will leave.

I still see nothing gamebreaking in AoC, but that will be an individual opinion because it depends what you are looking for in an MMO.

I want to change my vote. Funcom just either broke my class(ranger) or snuck in a change to our damage output, making us even more useless than before. I can put up with the CONSTANT instance crashes, the broken stats, broken feats, and serious lack of quest, but to spend my time working on a class just to have Funcom utterly destroy it... waste of time. I'm not impressed by Funcom's handling of these last few weeks.

i never tried it and never will. The fanboys on this forum makes me even more not to subscribe to this game.

If the community in game is anything like the forums here then i better stay away.

The AoC in game community has been good, at least on my server, so far. The community in game is nothing like the forums here from what I have experienced. I do expect that some of the quitters will try to stir things up a bit when their free time is about to run out, but I don't think this will be a big problem.

I also play a lot of Guild Wars, which has got the worst community in my opinion. This is probably because there are no monthly fees, but to be honest it does not bother me anymore, you just learn to ignore the kids.

WoW has a decent community, its problem being that the chat is littered with goldspam at present.

LOTR had a nice and friendly community, but I only played the 14-day trial so I can't really speak of experience on that one.

The best community I have ever experienced was in EVE online. I think it still is a brilliant game, but sadly it became too time consuming for me and my fragmented playtime.

I said "great" as i expected"

I've been following the game since late '04-early '05 and seen them change the character builds from skill based to leveling, boat loads of classes down to 12 and other cool features that sound good on paper.

Months before release the developers stated what was going to make into launch, what was dead, and was planned for launch but will be added later on. It was slightly vague but it gave you a good sense what was to be in launch and I have not been surprised or disappointed.

People complain about "no sieges" well there might be a reason for no sieges, because nobody has even gotten to a tier 3 citiy to even start building a "battlekeep" in the "border kingdoms". People complaining about stats, for the most part i think they're self explanatory but could be tweaked. People complain about no PvP reward or xp, but the devs said they weren't goin to turn it on yet. Itemization is extremely weak in the game and not yet have i found a way to get a "sex buff".

People wanted this game to be a WoW killer. A friend at work who plays WoW kept talking about how people in the game were saying "they can't wait for AoC so they can stop playing WoW". Why would you want a game to kill another game, especially one that you played and invested so much time in. As if more than one successful game is not aloud to be on the market at one time. And at no point did Funcom say they wanted to "Kill WoW". Tey World of Warcraft players said that.
