After WoW came out, there was a void in MMO history where NO GOOD MMO was on the market.

I remember 2005- 07 was the worst wait for a MMO.  Everything was in development and the only worthwhile MMO to play was WoW.

Then AoC comes out, i had been anticipating its release due to the hype and features promised.  I thought this was going to be a traditional MMO with a wide open world and immersive content.  When i first logged on, i thought i had found my new addiction.  I played vigorously and loved every second until i got off the island of tortage and looked at my map

First of all, the instances didn't really bother me.  The lack of content bothered me. Once i glanced at my map and saw the limited places you could visit, the addiction broke. Most of my 30-45 leveling was done by grinding because there were no quests to be done.  Another thing that disappointed me was you got your first cloak at level 40!  And by then everyone was running around with your red cloak you got from sanctuary.

AoC has a fantastic combat system and great graphics.  Thats just about it.  I have to MAKE my self log on and get levels because im hoping there will be some reward to siege PvP.  But in the end, this game feels more like an online role playing game, misssing the most important element.

Im aware you cant have stellar graphics with an immersive world and hundreds of people on the screen,  but if your not going to have the MMO element in your game, don't call it an MMO.

MMORPG Character Monuments

...When its time for your character to take a well deserved rest...

I agree that WoW content is years ahead of AoC ...about 3 years. I am willing to allow and support a game that has the basic framework to become a great game. As you mention in your post, AoC has that framework. We just gotta let it mature a little

After 5 yrs. in development, you would think all that content would have been in at launch time. We as a MMO community need to take a stand against these dev companies that over hype their games and release them with only half the features.

As for as AOC not being a huge open world game because of high tech tits and ass, that's a step back in my opinion. FC could have took the other path and settled for lesser graphics, not WOW type but lesser, and made Hyboria a huge open and dangerous world.

Add in all the things they promised would be in game from the get go and you would have had one amazing mmo that could have been at the top of the list for a pretty long time.

Behold! Rash of the Itch King comes in November! Quake in fear!

Thanks for your opinion, maybe they can improve it in a few months and I know alot of people will still play it. Might try it out but now I'm not so sure, when WAR comes out that has top spot.

Tabula Rasa - letdown

AoC - not really a letdown - but no staying power

WAR - *cross finger*

What keeps me enthusiastic is patch day which is so very often these days, each patch improves the game by leaps and bounds and their future road map to the game may be what we wished was in at launch, but if they had waited till the features were All in, we wouldnt get to play right now, we'd be waiting six months to play and then we wouldnt have all the player feedback on their future plans that helps make them leaps and bounds above what they innitially planned. So I think everything happened for a reason and I will continue to play and enjoy having been there when it was the bare bones of the game and got to watch it flesh out into an even better one that will, have staying power for years to come.

You are out of your mind ; these so leaps and bounds are fixes to the game that should of had happened in Beta. oh wait there wasn't one, just their showcase of tortage( which is the only fun part of the game). I waited 2 years for this game,  and the only thing i got was a pretty bottle with nothing in it.
