Problem is they will claim that most people dont play/own the game and those who do suck at the game or (my personal favorite) have computers that are outdated and can only run WoW.

Ah yes this is true.

Good ridance, there are decent posts here and good information from people that actually play games and state opinions or facts.

Its funny how you state an opinion and clearly put that its an opinion in writing and people go beserek .

I guess fanboys can't take the heat.

I know.....lets develop a game where we all created wonderful polished characters with shiny shiny armor, pretty faces and big colorful hair....

then all stand around in magic mirrors that make us look young and in shape and tell everyone how great we are........

I'm not saying I don't land combo's, but my point is, this game favors ranged PvP. It's simply to easy to sit back, cast and then double tap to dodge incoming melee combos. How so? Because if you take a look at your opponents target window, you have a nice timer showing incoming combo's and usually you have plenty of time to dodge.

You know, there are some pretty damn big zones in AoC and it is very easy to play for hours on end and never cross a single zone line or see a loading screen (not counting when/if you die, which are pretty much instant).

I won't disagree with your statement. However, this is suppose to be an MMO right? So why minimize the rate of interaction with other players with instances?

I'll give you the point about the community, it isn't the greatest. But why on earth do you still have the public channels subscribed? Get a decent guild and there goes all your community issues.

Because I'm the type of player that likes to help new folks out by answering questions. I remember when I start playing a game and ask a question in chat and get nothing but silence. That sort of game environment is more likely to turn me away. As for being in a guild, I'm actually in a quite respectable guild on Stormrage called Riders of Taramis.

You don't take damage when you are performing a fatality, all though I believe you can still die if you have a pre-existing DoT on you, and people can interrupt you while performing a fatality (annoying but rare).

I guess, with all the excitement, I may have imagined being hit, who knows. Regardless, it's still worth every ounce of blood to watch another player take a sword to their head.

The patch that is going live 45 minutes from now is supposed to add in the guild functionality, although I do not know for sure.

Patches are good, they make the world go round, AoC needs lots of patches cause AoC didn't come anywhere near lauching a complete game. Yes, a lot of gaming companies do this, but that's not an excuse to do it with this game. 

There is not a single craftskill that cannot be maxed out n the current implementation of the game, some skills do however require low drop rate items to craft/advance. Low drop rate, but they do drop.

I can think of one craft that I'm doing right now that does not have drops available to get past tier one.  It's most commonly referred to as Alchemy and the drops I'm referring to are Yeti Bile, Spider Venom, Scorpion Venom, Scorpion Oil, Crocodile Tears and Hyena Meat. Check the Trader system if you don't believe me, cause you'll never see any of them for sale, yet all the other resources are readily available.

Do you honestly expect a different leveling time in any other modern game? (Most) People don't care about 1-cap, they care about cap and no company making a western MMO is going to have an insane time to cap such as seen in L2 and the like.

Fast leveling only works in games that have an end-game. AoC does not have their end-game even implemented. Had Border Kingdoms and Sieging been in at launch, this would not even be a problem.

Tortage can be bad, but than again you can do a lot in night mode and once you get into the main world there is a lot less of that to be dealt with because it is more spread out and instance.

Tortage isn't bad, in fact it's one of the better tutorial areas of MMOs. It's actually quite similar to that of EQ2's tutorial island.

You know, it is funny how you label instancing as a bad point (I am guessing because of separation of community because load screens are typically less than 10 seconds for me, and they are sometimes damn near instant; not to mention the huge zones in the game), yet you also say that having a more condensed area such as Tortage is a bad thing. Is there anything that would make you happy.

I can understand instancing dungeons for certain reasons. Instancing entire world zones defeats the purpose of an MMO which is community. Yes, lag is everyones enemy, which is why you don't make games with next generation graphics, until you can code it well enough to handle MMO standards.

I ll leave the board. AoC for me has content till december or so. Why bothering reading here ? And it wont get better until people can move on to the WAR or Aion forum, just to keep on whining and bashing there. I dont think there ever will be a game to satisfy you. Your game is whining... and you know who you are.

Games are mostly only bashed by those who have purchased them and played them.  If lots of folks start "whining" about a game, then that's a valuable "red flag" for you to look at and gives you one last chance to hold on to your $50.

Also, a few folks vigorously defending a game (ala. Vanguard) is also a "red flag."

Love or hate the game they have shipped 1 million copies already and i can see them shipping more.  Its probably the biggest MMO success since WoW.  So when you have 1 million people sign up at least 10-20% will hate it so that equals 200,000 trolls on the forums.  On the other side at least 20% will love it so you have 200,000 fanbois hitting back.  In the middle is the content 400,000 and I happily place myself there.  The game has enough content to keep me occupied until christmas at least and by that time there will be a lot more content.  Unusually I want to play a at least 6 different classes because they all play so differently.

  We have no facts, actually.  The only number any of us have (that is legit) are the "shipped" figures.  We do not know what the subs are, what the retention from initial sales are, what the average monthly growth is...ect.

  Until ALL of those three things become apparent, we know nothing.  Everything is purely speculative at this point, and even the industry professionals would agree with that.  Shipped boxes means nothing, it isn't even reflective of sales...as the PS3 had a ton of "shipped" boxes that are still sitting on shelves.   All the shipping number means is that they are actively preparing for whatever projected demand they assume they may have based on interest.  It does not mean there actually IS said interest, or that there is even demand for half of what they project.

  It also doesn't mean there isn't.  I don't know, anything I could say here would be just as speculative as everyone else.  The game, however, is not a success yet.  Success in a returning customer system is entirely based on how many returning customers you have.  We do not, after all, think Mc'Donalds to be a success just because they sold a ton of hamburgers on their first day.  Its the fact they do it EVERYDAY that makes us notice them in that industry.  The same holds true here.  We need sub numbers, we need average growth figures.

All I can say is that if you can make it through Tortage six times, then you deserve some special kind of award.
