I'm a sarcastic and cynical individual who will laugh at someone's misfortune (As long as it's not life threatening or puts others in peril). Ie. Skateboard dude who hits the crack and goes flying off his board. I'm also tend to think I'm pretty damn smart. That being said I wanted to give AoC the benefit of the doubt. I wanted AoC to decimate WoW so I could laugh in the face of carebears who are still mindless slaves of Blizzard, but the game didn't deliver. I was never a fanboy of AoC before it's release and I'm not one now. However, it has come to the point where I'll back up or bump posts that make relevant criticisms of the game, especially if it's points I agree with. The detest the AoC fanboys who continue to defend the game and make excuses for why AoC isn't complete. It gives me great joy to see a game they like going down the drain and I'd like to yell, "Ha I told you SO."
I don't think I'm in the minority feeling like this. We shouldn't fool each other anymore, I came clean. I dislike AoC and I hope the game fails, that way other games can learn from it's mistake and perhaps we won't have anymore shatty MMORPGs like AoC come out.

I didn't actually want to see them fail until I read about the Al-Qaida fiasco just a few days ago. That's actually offensive, but hey, the important people live in Norway so what do they care? The game could have been heavenly and I still would've wanted it to crash and burn just because of that. |

Behold! Rash of the Itch King comes in November! Quake in fear! |
I wanted to see AoC "succeed" so that 1) the fanbois will be happy (they're just people looking for a new game, right)? and 2) we'd have two or more big kids on the block to take a big chunk away from Blizzard. Seeing the game now I'd say there's going to be only one, but I think if Funcom doesn't keep going the way it's going in a few months it can be a game with a strong fanbase that will grow steadily over the next year. |

I don't want to see any MMO fail, some people like them no matter what they are like. I loved E&B and hate that it failed... really failed. I don't like that funcom released an unfinished MMO, I hate that people accept that as OK. but despite that I don't want it to fail as long as anyone is still having fun with it. |

See, I'm a little different. I do not WANT to see Blizzard lose any subs unless the game is actually better. I don't mean better in the traditional sense of the word...I mean, using WoW as a base to set the bar for basic functions and ease of use (Simple, common things that all MMO's strive for) I would like to see the game offer at LEAST the same degree of attention to its game as that, and then move forward some. I would be okay with Blizzard losing every player they have...so long as the game, and the company, are truly a step ahead of that design. My more vindictive side really wants Funcom to go belly up for not even really TRYING to push the bar at all...they didn't even stand tall enough to reach it. All Blizzard losing a chunk of players to another junky MMO is going to accomplish is ensuring that this genre will stay every bit as stagnate as it has been for 10 years now. Frankly...I'm just tired of it. I feel that if we cannot strive for better, and innovate more, then WoW should be the only MMO left on the market. For too long now we have seen company after company, dev after dev, throw away every last ounce of logic and ingenuity for the sake of adhering to a mold that is ebbing away. I'd just like for ONE company to at least seriously TRY (with a decent budget and solid team) to make something fresh again. |

Remember, though, that money hungry suits would not be behind them if there were not money to be made in it. We are, after all, enablers to this situation and have been so for many years. |

Boo...... |
I don't want to see Age of Conan fail as that would be another slap in the face to the genera. I don't want to see Funcom fail either, it quite simply would adversely affect the lives of too many people/families. I would however like to see that deceitful, lying little piece of shit Gaute Godager fail miserably. He is AoC, he is also Funcom ....... perhaps collateral damage is a good word to squeeze in here.

Of course...you hit the nail right on the head. You all don't know how true that really is. |

I think the problem lies just as much with the players who are willing to buy, and pay monthly for games like this. Thats the problem I have with AoC.
So yeah, the publishers pushing games out and lying about them are a big part of the problem, but the players are a part of the problem as well. So while I dislike AoC for being like this, and the crazy people who defend the unfinished game, I don't want it to fail at all. Its a game, for fun. It may even be bad for the industry as a whole, but as long as people can have fun, I hope their MMO is around for them. |
