Hi everyone,
I played Vanguard from day one, I had the preorder and paticipated on the headstart event and all such things, BUT the game never really pulled me into the world. Reasons were MAJOR (and I mean MAJOR) bugsand that the whole system of crafting and diplomacy (in which I had very high hopes) were pretty flawed. After some month it looked like the game was going down the toilet, when many many players (me included) left the game. The same time gold selling companies flooded the game and the whole ingame economic went down.
My question is now is(since I am looking for a game to pick up) IF anything changed in this game, since it is pretty high rated I just hope so |

I also played at launch and then again at Christams last year and both times I left very dissapointed in the preformance and the bugs, some bugs were pretty game breaking,I came back just over a week ago and I am having a blast, the game plays and feels so much better now and as before looks great, the chat channels can be quite chatty(at least on Halgar)very friendly bunch and no childish antics thus far,I have yet to see 1 gold spammer in chat that could be down to the fact the subs went down the toilet last year*shrug* who knows and who cares they arent here as of yet. I would reccomend VG to players but I think with the game you need a guild as the world is huge and can feel quite lonely at times and also you will need help not just in quests but for crafting etc. New mmo player's may be overwelmed at the start but there is help at hand from the player's who seem to be only to happy helping other's so stick with it as you will find some pleasure in this game. Also I wrote a post about my 1st week back at Vg as the days progressed you can find the post here... http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/185670

I cant believe how many new people I am seeing coming into Vanguard just in the last 2 days, its unreal. What is really nice is a lot of the people coming in are very happy and cant believe they didnt try it sooner. This is what I am seeing watching chat, a lot of new people, I cant complain about the community at all, everyone seems to help out as much as they can. Honestly I am really suprised with the game and community myself right now, glad I came back. I am on the Seredon server which I think is the highest populated one. |

started playing again recently, feels pretty empty, but the open world to explore is something i havent seen in MMO's for a while. graphics is ok (no AoC tho), community very small, sometimes i feel like im the only player in the game... been playing on Sardok and Halgar. Of course i can't log in today because of "waiting for world servers to connect" bug... Ohh Vanguard, You're really trying my patience... |

Halgar is the european server... dont really know about the population there except it should be better than Sartok. Supposedly Seradon has the highest population, but I think Xeth is just as high. The servers are down for weekly mainteance this morning. Thats why you are waiting for connect... its not a bug. See: http://forums.station.sony.com/vg/posts/list.m?topic_id=33998

After a long while without any mmorpgs, having played almost all of them I finally decided to give Vanguard a shot after all the latest news on this game, and I must admit I am not regreting and I'm having a great time. |

Good to hear your enjoying it as well, the game has really come around in the last year. I am not a big SOE fan, if anything I consider them the hospice of MMO's but they have really done a damn good job with VG so far. I hope with the influx of new people they get motivated and really boost the Dev team, (dreaming) but it could happen. |

I beta tested, did the head start and played for not quite the first month. Quit due to performance issues and incompleteness. I just resubbed a couple nights ago and I really think the game is amazing. It runs incredibly well now, Im still not sure how they pulled that off but its like night and day. I cant say enough about the content in the game. From crafting and diplomacy to the massive amount of quests, this is really a PvE'rs dream. I really like the idea of building plots and not walking into the same building instance for your house or guild house. Also, ship building is very unique. Overall, the game looks beautiful. Furthermore, its being reworked right now to look even more beautiful. Theres suppose to be a major game update which will be updating all character models and animations this summer (soon). I may have a buddy key or two in a week so stay tuned |
