Vanguard: Saga of Heroes

Stop sinking money into this turkey.  Vanguard will likely never be a hit and never be reasonably populated.  Microsoft knew this two to three years ago.

World design was unfinsihed and non-descript.  Quest and classes systems mutating towards WOW-ness all the time.  This game will never really fly, in my opinion.

Now flame me if you like, but I think you players and Sony can better spend your dollars elsewhere.

Need something to play until better games release?  Civ 4 is holding me over pretty well.  Not an MMO, but something to do between now and then.

VG is probably the best PvE MMORPG currently out; I don't know where you got your facts from...

This reads like some commercial campaign.

Don't spent your money on their's, buy ours.

Even in it's current un-polished, low populated state, I still actually have fun in Vanguard, as opposed to ANY other MMO currently on the market. I'm pretty much a lone wolf in MMO's I guess, but still.

Who cares if its a "hit" or not?  If one has fun playing the game....... why not play it?  VG has enough of a population to keep going.. Hell it lasted this long.

I just started this game about a month ago, and I am having a blast -

The world is HUGE - and I am overwhelmed by all the places I can go and see....the game runs great on my computer (although my computer is on roids)

There are PLENTY of other players around - I got 2 different dungeons groups last night - was awesome! 

Quests are fun and challenging - rewards are a little weak - but the cash and XP make up for it !

And the population seems to be INCREASING! 

All this = a HIT in my book.

I will play Vanguard for the years to come.

You want me to stop ? Well, thats really easy ! Justs give me a better game than Vanguard ! And you would have already done the trick !

I want:

1. Traditional classic high fantasy setting with a lot of magic.
2. Classbased, preferably configurable. No stupid skillbased systems, thank you very much.
3. A lot of complex and interesting to play classes, good fightsystem
4. Huge gameworld with a lot of variance, and no instancing, all typical fantasy races present (elf etc)
5. Preferably a dynamic world where you can actually influence the world as a player.
6. No IP, or at least no lame IP implementation, like LotRO or AoC.
7. I want crafting - the more the better.
8. Challenge. Dont make games easier.
9. PvP with a meaning, if its there. Like in GW. Not like Warhammer or DAoC or WoW.

Vanguard definitely could improve in some of these respects. Still its the best choice.

As there is nothing better than Vanguard, not even at the farest horizont, nope, sorry, you lose. If VG wouldnt be there, I probably would play GW, but while it seems to have great PvP, its not that great in many other respects.

Well, though I hate to feed trolls, the post is here so I will say:

The game doesn't need to be a "hit". I think the OP doesn't understand that Sony saw a way to add to their games catalog for very little money and investment and a chance to take what was there and mold it to something better.

For anyone who is interested, as long as you can approach it as a rough, retro gaming experience, the game can be a blast. The world is huge and there does seem to be a sense of discovery when roaming the world.

It runs better than ever and I think Sony did a very good job.

It's different and that's what the gaming world needs, "different".

I don't know how anyone could call this game a turkey, for me this game is amazingly fun, it is polished enough, i've seen bigger more annoying problems with bigger older mmorpgs.

Also I don't see how the OP can title the thread 'Some friendly advice...' as its not advice its a opinion and a pretty unfacted and justified one at that. Doesn't sound like he's really played the game nor been on at a peak time, as there are enough ppl in Thestra all over, you can't go into a town without seeing at least one person anymore, yes more ppl would be good, but all games say that. I personally like going into a dungeon and not really seeing anyone doing it at the same time, or if there is team up[ with them and do it together in a bigger party, its all good :D

The only thing that is a little annoying is the lack of speed on the auctions, but with more ppl this would speed up :D
