PC "apologists" don't have to try hard at all considering that everything console fanbois have, PC gamers have and then some. Yes, even the Wii controller can be played on a PC. Sorry, but you don't even have that up on us. Not even the ridiculous statement that "consoles are safer from piracy unlike PC games" which has already been proven to be incorrect. I even remember PC's having the first version of color VR glasses/helmets, I should know since I frequented a computer Cafe that had them. What was console's response? the Eye-gouging VR gameboy.

I'm not trying hard at all to prove my point, all the information I posted I was able to find within minutes. I'm merely pointing out the stupidity in the comments posted by the console fanbois against PC's. The fact is, the PC is a much better, more flexible medium for games than ANY console and it lasts a lot longer than consoles. I should know considering that I spent considerably less for upgrading my system to run like a 360, rather than buying a whole new system and it's still kicking, I can still upgrade it to run better if I wanted to and it would merely cost me another 1G of ram (not to mention I can pop in a better GFX card). Not bad for a computer that was older than when the first 360 came out.

I supposed if you're a complete idiot when it comes to computers, I can see how you might think "consoles are better" but the reality is quite the opposite.

Take that up with the game developers, not the console manufacturers. PC's have a number of good games that consoles have, mass effect, GTA, assassins creed, Halo, just to name a few. I do agree with you though that not enough attention is given to PC, even though it is a more robust system than consoles. But I'll make you a bet that if they started making ALL console games for the PC, consoles would be DEAD! Why bother buying a console when you can only play PS games, or only 360 games, or Wii games, when you can play all of them indiscriminately on the PC? and don't say it's not possible for the PC to handle it, because it can. Every single game you see on the shelves for your console STARTED as a game on a PC, then encoded to play on the console operating system.

I do believe that there will still be a market for consoles in 10 years but it is possible that it will be a lot more oriented for kids than adults. Wii and nintendo have shown us that you don't have to make an expensive console with the latest technology, it sells cheap innovative games for kids.

Sony have gone the opposite way, PS3 is almost a PC, it runs on linux, you can surf on it and use it like any PC. However it is very expensive and if the PC hardware continue to get better in the rate we had the last 5 years or so PS4 might be a lot more like a regular PC with a graphic card that can be changed and fit the PC cards. Would be nice if the PC4 would be compitable with a Linux PC so you could game on something else than crappy windows.

The Xbox is so close to a windows running PC that the scenario of it being outdated totaly sounds likely, the only good point is that it is cheaper and that all the parts are 100% compitable, while PC parts not allways runs perfect together if you uses parts from different manifacturers (like having an ASUS graphic card in your A-BIT motherboard as an example). On the other hand many console players might not want a PC and as long as there is a big demand for something, it will be made.

The only way I see consoles dying out due to PCs is if the mainstream PC manufacturers start making cheap pcs that can actually play the pc games at the console resolution and hook to your tv. Until then it aint gonna happen. Dell, Hp, Acer, etc... keep selling crap computers for $500-700 range and put their real gaming rigs up to nearly $2000. That is the problem with the PC market (well one of them, compatibility is the other major issue).  Until you can walk into Best Buy and get a HP pc that can play AoC at medium or higher graphics for $400-500 and hook it to your tv then its consoles for the mainstream gaming market. Not everyone who plays games goes to Newegg and builds a computer. Think outside of this site.

These guys really do rip comsumers off with thier pre-built PC's, the gaming rigs they advertise are usually very overpriced with crap second rate components in them. If people knew how easy it was to build a decent cheap computer with excellent performance these places would go bust.

Unfortunitly this year has been an awfull year for PC games, as usuall the only decent games on the horizon are at the end of the year.

I have all the consoles and an excellent PC, I have to say my opinion on the current console games on the the "Next Gen" consoles have been awfull only a handfull have been any good, I'm sick of the current console games being extremely short and all about the graphics, all style and no substance ect.

Consoles are easy and aren't complicated.  Some people prefer to keep things simple.  All things considered, computers are always going to have more than consoles so.  It's the competition that's convinced him to believe that way.

Where do people get this assumption that computers are "hard" and "complicated"??? for god's sake my 5 year old niece has a computer in her own bedroom, and no, it's not a cheesy "hello kitty" toy computer that you see in toys R' us, I mean it's a $600+ piece of equipment and yet she's quite capable of using it. I should know since I gave her the computer in the first place (It was my old one from 5+ years ago, so rather than toss it after buying a new one, I gave it to her)

Honestly, you console gamers really don't have a leg to stand on when it comes to arguing how "easy" consoles are over PC's. I mean honestly, you'd have to be a complete ignorant moron or someone who has been living in a cave for the rest of their lives, to think that PC's are "too complicated". Again, I could see this argument being valid back in the days of windows 3.1, but NOW????? I'm sorry but PC's have become "dumb dumb proof" since Win98/NT and even more "dumb dumb proof" since XP. If you honestly can't figure out how to play a game now a days in a PC then you must be way beyond idiot proof. Hell the PC allows for easier control customization of your controllers to fit your play style, something that not all console games have. Hell the games even give you display instructions in case you really are so air headed you can't figure out how to play/install etc.

if you're a Mac user, consider yourself lucky because they made Macs more accessible or "idiot proof" from much earlier than 98 (lucky bastards lol!).

Really? And does your 5 year old niece also know how to upgrade her computer? Does she know how to replace components, know which graphic card to pick, know how what kind of SPU she needs? Does she know how to overlock her CPU, how to remove her old drivers and download and install  new ones? Does she know how to configure her BIOS settings? Does she even understand the term system requirements?

When people talk about consoles are less complicated they are NOT referring to putting the disk in, installing and playing the game, they are talking about all the things that come around it.

Good luck trying to explain to someone who isn't already very familiar with computers that he can't run bioshock because his GPU doesn't support the required shader model.

Obviously you haven't heard of game emulators... sorry, but even the GameCube (as tough as they try to be on protecting their copyrights) wasn't safe from piracy, and I wouldn't be surprised if a PS3, 360 emulator was already in the works or is already working, I don't think even the Wii would be safe, heck they already hacked the controller, it wouldn't be long before they put an emulator and the controller hack together.

Sorry, but if it can be hacked, it will be, be it PC or Wii games. This is fact. I used to live in a south american country where they even had pirated consoles, an example, they sold the Nintendo side by side to what was called the "Nichi-man" console it was essentially a nintendo with nintendo games, the only difference was that they altered the cartridges so that you could only play "nichi-man" cartridges, Yes I bet there is a new pirated console as well. Sorry, I know it might not seem like it to most americans here in the U.S. but even consoles get hacked/pirated.

Now obviously you won't find anyone pirating any consoles beyond SNES/64 anymore for OBVIOUS reasons. I'm sure that, since then, it's become a lot easier to get caught making counterfeit consoles, not to mention that their performance quality STUNK!. But, there are still computer emulators that can play N64, PS, PS2, Xbox and Gamecube games and you won't have to shell out any money for a crummy pirated, under-performing console.

EDIT TO ADD: Oops I guess I was mistaken, according to this article, pirates had even been doing Xbox consoles as well, and not only that, but they did a BETTER job than Microsoft did with their first Xbox. Obviously for the 360, microsoft had to change strategies to where they adopted some of the pirate's ideas.

You are missing the point. By the time you can successfully launch a console emulator successfully on your PC, the console will be long dead a new generation has been going out.

If you want to play downloaded games on say, your Xbox 360 or your Wii, you're going to have to mod your console. This needs to be done at special places or the black market, now locks out the typical mainstream audience right there hence why console piracy is MUCH MUCH smaller than PC piracy. Also, if you enjoy Xbox live, then your console is sure to be banned at one point in time.

I'm going to adress your controller arguments as well.

About the Wii remote, you'll never get a library of games the Wii has, period. No matter how much you hack it, the games have to be designed specificly for the wii remote in order to be a good experience. The vast majority of PC owners do not own such a thing so you won't find any of those official games to play.

This is exactly the reason why controllers often don't work well with PC's. There are simply very few games that make good use of a controller because a controller is not the standard, Mouse and Keyboard is.

I suggest that you do a bit more research on your claims because most of your so called "Enlightened counter arguments" are completely incorrect and show that you haven't done a lot of research on this subject, for instance you completely failed to understand that piracy on PC is a much bigger issue than on consoles.

Also if by VR glasses you mean 3D glasses, Virtual Boy was not the first console, those have been around since the NES days at least.

I mean, the fact that you claim: "We even have the wii controller" is quite hilarious.
