The new IP they are developing may prove to be something everyone will love (or hate). I mean with Starcraft and Diablo they seemed to wanted to keep them in there original forms for those folks who love them the way they are.

For Warcraft imo the neverending war and such and all the enemies that come along is great. They had always drew out more from Warcraft it had the most sequels and most time put into it alot of times. So if you look back Warcraft was probably always showed alittle favortism so when it came to making an MMO it was there first choice. I mean they had finished the trilogy they had the story of Arthas and his downfall. So what next? I mean whats up with these other races this was where WOW comes in to flesh it out to let people know and to kinda of make there own story for after Warcraft 3.

In my eyes Diablo 3 is nothing more then it should be its always been a more face paced dungeon crawler where friends could get together ot random folks over battle.net to loot and kill shit. I myself cannot wait to immerse myself in it as a player of Diablo 1 (before D2 came out) and Diablo 2 for many years and still would sometimes go back. I have been waiting for this for along time. The only IP Blizzard has I didn't follow as well was Starcraft it just didn't interest me as much as WOW for a RTS.

And to add to your points, Blizzard already said that their next MMO wasn't going to be fantasy-based and wasn't going to be a previously-Blizzard based franchise.

100% agree.  Maybe when the make a Diablo IV in 5 or 6 years, they'll get it right.  Diablo as a polished MMO would own the MMORPG genre, PERIOD.  Even Warhammer, good as it looks, pales in comparison to the Diablo world, in my opinion.

No doubt it would make a good MMORPG. But the heros are ever changing the story is never the same it always evolves. So maybe in the future they will make a new MMORPG. But right now you also have to look Blizzard probably wants to milk WOW for a few more expansions. Also the wait since it will be a normal RPG will nor be nearly as long as it would be for a MMORPG.

Maybe it will be trend to for them to make a trilogy of a game and then make it a MMORPG like they did WOW lol. I agree it would be something different and I would love to play that but right now I knew that wouldn't happen I never expected D3 to be anything more then it is right now.

A new IP is what they need really as you can see people always expect the current genre to change with new batch. So with a new IP they can really mold it and start a whole new fan base. WOW there first front in the MMORPG and because of its fanbase it was huge. But for them I think they wanna keep some games pure and right now focus on WOW and the new IP they are developing. I mean they do not want to have to split there customers between 3 MMORPG's and 2 of them being new would they? So keep the WOW cash coming in with a new expansion. Work on the new IP in the process and get out new older franchise games to keep cash coming in and everyone happy lol. I think thats what they are thinking.

its blizz it took them like 2+ years to make a nexpansion making a fully new mmorpg lawl 8-10 years no doubt
