Mob grinding as the only way to level up is just BS. Thats just me. Killing the same type mobs for hundereds of hours is not fun. Games are supposed to be fun. If you want to feel accomplished for wasting hundereds of hours of your life killing pixels over and over and over, then by all means go for it. That is not my idea of a good time. |

sorry about that harsh post, I misunderstood and thought the interview and comments were highlighting the perfectworld.com.my game. I did not know they were bringing it to NA fully. Based on my ignorance of the fact that there is going to be a NA server, I thought you were holding off on a server that was already live. |

While I think its great they've been able to pick out the problems with other "korean mmo ports". Its the same promises we tend to get from devs in charge of these sorts of ports. I do hope they address everything they say they will because poor translation and grinding is typical of the f2p spectrum of MMOs(hence why I don't play them). |

Spoken like a true teenager with no income, who doesn't OWN the credit cards, frequent flyer miles, or passports. Feel free to call anyone who is cautious an idiot, but I would like to put forth the distinct possibility that YOU are too trusting. You're giving information to a company outside of the United States and the U.S. legal accountability, therefore, it's actually WISE to think twice about it. It's hard ENOUGH to get legal recourse WITHIN the U.S. for internet financial screw ups with U.S. BASED games and companies. That being said....I did just register and make up all the information (even though the EULA admonishes one not to DO so and says they will....omg noessss..."BAN" anyone they find out that does). Wow....I'm so scared of being banned from a game. O.o Anyway.....I'm humoring everyone who raves on the game. You've got me curious. I'll try it. And since I KNOW you're going to post and say, "What? I'm not a teenager...blah blah blah." I will also respond in kind to YOUR assumption (we all assume things, don't we) and let you know that not "ALL" of us have been "wanking off over what a great and epic game AoC was going to be." Personally, I doubt the advertising on every single game that is released. Advertising is made to create hype, and hype is notoriously not worthy of paying any heed. The fact that I haven't heard that much about this game, actually makes me more curious about it than all the others that get so much press. Oh, and I'm a 45 year old mother of 3 grown children, and yes....I'm absolutely ANAL about devulging my financial information. Sue me. However, I won't likely be the one getting any of MY accounts hacked, now, will I?
You mean this company is based outside of the US? I am sure you would never play a game owned by a company outside of the US, such as WoW, Age of Conan, Everquest, The Matrix Online, Everquest 2, Starwars Galaxies or Anarchy Online. Just an FYI since you're so concerned about getting hacked. You're much more likely to get hacked yourself than any of these companies are. |

I tried it, it is not a bad game, but it is just another asian grinder. The higher you get the worse the grinding gets, as usual. So certainly brings nothing new to the genre. If you enjoy that kind of play, have at it, I personally find it boring and as others have said there are a alot of botters playing. |

It's clear this game doesn't use the typical korean gameplay mechanics since it is heavily quest based, It's much more similar to WoW than a L2.. Wouldn't surprise me one bit if you have never even played the game. It's funny how you seem to be always there to claim "Omgz, asian grindfest!!111oneone"

ROFLMAO @ Grimfall....
Uhm, wow, don't know if you've been living in a cave or what, but World of Warcraft is NOT based outside of the United States. And yes, what I said is accurate.....I do not give my credit card information to companies outside of the United States. If I play a game that is NOT based here, I use a game card. And it will be a cold day in HELL before any game company gets my social security number or passport number during registration.
Having said all of that and gone on and on about it now for, oh....how many posts? /sigh I DID make up the information that the EULA said "must be accurate" at pain of possible "banning" from their game, and have now downloaded, scanned for viruses and spyware, and have installed PW and created a character. So far, I have to say, it does have some allure. The graphic environments are actually quite lovely. I would indeed say they are almost as good as any paid MMO I've seen. I was a bit taken aback by the fact that the base classes you are able to play are rather limited and even more so by the fact that only male characters can play some of them, and only female characters can play others. I mean, come on....this is 2008 in gaming history too....sexism is pretty outdated and downright idiotic in a GAME, if you ask me, but hey.....I didn't make the game, and it's only a tiny quibble, so .....meh. Other than that, I can't honestly say I've played enough to be able to say much else. Although I plan on doing so. It HAS managed to capture my attention enough to warrant some more exploration, to be sure. Anyway, to those of you that think I'm just being a biootch about my personal information, I'm soooooo sorry that somehow offended you, but a vast majority of adults DO think seriously about the amount of personal financial information that they share with unknown companies on the internet. To not have a second thought about that is really just naive in this day and age. I'm ready to drop that seemingly TOUCHY subject and move on to looking at the game itself. Thanks to all the posters that were touting it's worth. I think they may have a fine point. :) |
