Hey everyone!

Well I decided after playing Lineage II for awhile that I wanted to go to a different game.

I used to play FFXI quite abit, Got a lv 72 SMN hehe.

I also started looking into WoW.

Just can't decide which to go for, Bk to FFXI or start WoW.

Be nice to get some info on the differences between the games.

Not played WoW so unsure what it's about or how it runs.

Any info would be great!

Thanks everyone

World of Warcraft can be a lot of fun if you can get past the community and if you are lucky enough to find a good guild. Its an easy game to learn and most PCs can handle it just fine.

FFXI, well I love the FF franchise but I just couldnt get into FFXI. You have a history with it though and obviously like it.

Id recommend a 3rd alternative. Have you tried Vanguard? Its night and day compared to what it was at launch. Now is a great time to join the growing community. The classes are diverse the combat is awesome and it has the best crafting system Ive come across.

Vanguard looks pretty good.

Main reason FFXI is sticking out for me is cause I have PC built for gamein and 360 so my partner could play on 360 and me on pc so we can play 2getha.

What did you mean about WoW community?

First of all. Vanguard? Even Smedley admitted to screwing up on this game during same interview he stated he screwed up on SWG, stay away from it. While I can't compare with ffxi, haven't played it, WoW is a solid game with tons to do. Huge population in WOW, (Vanguard is barren is comparison) good peeps bad peeps, every mmo has them. Seriously, never played WOW before? you can't go wrong, you will definatley have alot of fun.

The community is immature and rude.  Not all of the community of course, but a good amount of it.

Like the above poster said, I would recommend looking for a kind, mature guild...

Jesus is King

Groups are subjective in WoW. Some players were able to group through the entire game, others, like myself, was forced to solo until I quit at level 40ish. I looked and asked for groups. If you're into grouping, WoW probably isn't your thing. I came from EQ1, which is hugely group orinated, and well, I did not like WoW at all.

I tried Vanguard and thought it was fun. Too solo friendly for me.

I'd suggest keep on playing FFXI until another game comes out.. like.. Sage of Ryzom :D

Blessings,

Jesus is God!

WoW is a solo game. You can duo or group if you want, but its just as fast to quest grind solo. Of course, you can duo grind the quests to be faster, the mobs you kill will net you less xp cause youre grouped.  You only group up in WoW for dungeons to get harder quests done and get gear in them. At end game, you solo grind daily quests for gold and do dungeons for gear or raid. Once at 70, it takes longer to gear up so a group will take you in the few heroic dungeons that still get done, so you will have to grind pvp gear more then likely.

Somewhat non-existent, the entire game is pretty much solo!  Yeah there are some things in Outlands lvl 58-70 that are elite still and will require small to full groups, but most of it is solo!

Throughout the game though 1-70 there are quite a few instances that require groups and are still pretty fun, though just about everything pre-Outlands is much easier now!  Or you might just run into a bored lvl 70 willing to run through an instance for something to do.  Most of them can be cleared by a lvl 70 in under 30min, pre 60 up to I'd say Sunken Temple is when it gets much harder for a 70 to solo really fast but still possible!

After that most will require a small to full group or raid to clear, unless your that crazy Tauren Druid I saw a video clip of soloing some of the dungeons in Outlands!  heh

Should also add that FFXI and WoW are like Night and Day!  You level in WoW from solo-questing getting massive XP bonuses for turning them in, where as in FFXI you get no XP for quests, and most of the leveling is pure group-grinding!

Like any mmo the best xp parties you will have come from guild groups but there are so many people at all levels playing WoW that unless you try and hide the ability to get a grp going within minutes is very very fast.
