Just wondering Would you still play Guild wars 2, If they made it Free 2 play but with a Cash shop.
Now some of you may not known what a cash shop is or does to a game economy. But For those of you that do I would love to hear your response. Because so far its still up in the air with Anet will do with Guild wars 2. No one knows anything specific yet. So far they did say 100% sure it would be Free 2 play (Free 2 PLAY) That does not mean Its going to be Free 2 finish or Free 2 continue playing. So for those of you who played guild wars, My fellow guild wars players What would you say to a cash shop system in guild wars 2?

You see.. one of the only strong points of GW is that you buy the game one, and your done. Its a filler game for alot of gamers. Its easy to pick up, max out and play. With a cash shop you are completely ruining the feel of the game. You really can't implement a cash shop while maintaining the type of game GW is. |

Cash shops are the stupidest (is that even a word) idea EVER, even more so than the NGE in SWG. They are ruining the genre and will be the downfall of any decent MMO or RPG. It's like getting a free house but you don't have a roof, doors or running water. |

if the cash shop just sells in game gold it would be better than if it were to sell in game items. As it is Guild wars1 allows you to pay for extra character slots and expanisions which I do not see a problem with. I think it would be a great idea if the game itself sells in game cash ( not items though ) to ward off gold sellers because if the game itself gives them competition most players would rather give the game they love extra cash instead of some random person. The extra cash generated for developers would allow them to do more for the game itself and it would still be fair for all players if the cash shop is limited to cash only and not items. That way anyone who has time and not money can still have the chance of gaining what they need in game and not have to spend extra to do so, and the players with money and no time could still compete with the hard core players. I think that would be a win win situation for the developers and the players, the only people who would lose out from this would be gold sellers and that is a good thing not bad. The more of them you keep away from your game the better because they ruin a community given the chance. |

Guild wars 1 already has a type of cash shop... sure it's not as bad as ones where you pay for uber items to help you level quicker or give you better stats or what not but hey it's there. You buy character slots, skills for PvP, and I think they have something else but I forget. If they kept it to the miniumum like this, I'd be fine with it. |

Since guild wars1 already has a small cash type shop I do not think that anything they added to guildwars2 would have a major impact on the game itself. First off they are a respectable company , and respect and treat their players better than any mmo on the market so I do not think they would go the scam item shop route with anything they do, they are better than that. The shop they have as it is has no effect on the game itself and does not affect the player enjoyment of the game in any way. I have confidence that anything they chose to implement in this way would not harm the game, they are good at what they do. |

The key is balancing necessitys with bonuses and privilages. |

Guild wars seems to be better at balancing than just about any game out there. There is no one class that rules them all there is a cash type shop in guild wars1 and it does not affect gameplay so i think they would do a good job if they implement this same kind of thing in guild wars2. |
