So you are saying its not true that the dialog has changed and that there are less topless NPCs now? SInce I dont pay Funcom money on a regular basis I cant check for myself.

  This thread started out as these very two questions.  What it has BECOME is the result of people attacking and flaming him (and me) for asking....because, apparently, viewing the mature material presented in the game as "good" is immature.

Well the OP isn't really a debate about whether or not mature content is desirable or appropriate.  That's a separate issue for me.  I don't happen to want to see gore spatter my screen or see topless NPCs lol.  If however, this was advertised to me, and I paid for it, I'd expect to receive it, not something else.

  Given what you just said, I'll gladly respect your personal taste on the matter.  I disagree with it, but you do understand the nature of the issue, and respect it as well.  They marketed one thing, and are now preparing to provide something else.  Coupled with the fact they already forgot to include most of what they marketed already...I'm gonna call foul and place Funcom right on the same list as SOE at this point.

  What I'm hearing about here is something dirty, if you ask me.

AoC recieves the killing blow from their own creator! Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy at its finest! Now they cant even sell the game because its so full of left-out content and mis-labeled... stuff that its not even the same game they were marketing!

No boobs and no coarse language, soon the gore will be gone as well! Guild Wars has indeed met its match! xD

I wish that we could get a straight answer on this.  While I'm not an AoC fan, I did purchase the game spur of the moment while out with a friend.  It (was / is) my intention to check back in a few months or so after the game had received some much needed patching.

Yet what I'm seeing - or at least what people seem to be suggesting is happening - is another case where a dev studio begins sweeping changes rather than addressing the real issues.  Why balance classes and fix bugs when you can just change the very nature of the game?

This is so precious.  Oh hells, I almost want it to be true just so I can watch the virtual train wreck and all of its glorious carnage.

So what I'm looking for is confirmation (a link to an official source of some sort would be great) one way or the other.  Are they removing the nudity?  How about the harsh language as well?

If it is then I am just... in awe.

Same here... theres a twisted malicious evil bitch-side of me that just wants them to crash and burn so I can see it happen. I missed out on NGE-gate back when Star Wars Galaxies was at its prime... lol

So...was the tits and gore just a marketing scheme to get a huge chunk of cash right at launch, then revert the game to the WoW demographics (which was Funcom's real focus)? LOL, I smell conspiracy!

This is basically where I'm coming from.  It floors me to no end to think that a company could possibly be able to ignore that lesson and go through with this kind of change.

It's probably not true or otherwise being exaggerated, but there's nothing that can be done about it if it does turn out to be true.  Watching the decent into choas would be priceless, and well worth what I paid for the box!

...but still, I'd like an official confirmation or denial before I break out the popcorn and shades, or meander off to bid my time elsewhere.

OK, but the way that I've understood the ranting is that this is a change coming down the pipe.

I don't exacty expect a change of this magnitude, I'll just be laughing madly if they do.

In this mature game the word "drunk" is not allowed in guildnames etc. "whore" is ok though since it fits the conan lore, which "drunk" dont according to Funcom. There is an npc in Tortage called "drunken brawler" though. The word "runk" is banned though since it means masturbate in Swedish, which is a language spread all over the world so you cant use that either.

edit: and maybe thats why "drunken brawling" isnt implemented yet...? :D
