Too weird to live, and too rare to die

I'm not in WAR closed beta but I have been in other closed betas before; AoC being the most recent. I must say, there are those people that act like complete tools and seem to think they just bought the game in retail form. They play it like they're paying for it, never try to report things or test things and bitch and moan the whole time; spam general chat, repeatedly saying "This sucks; it's broken.", etc.

I personally run my characters around everywhere checking areas, game mechanics, graphics, glitchiness, tool-tip corrections, etc. I feel bad just running quests and leveling. I may not be getting paid, but I sure did sign up for testing. That's why you're called a beta-tester not a beta-player.

With the latest releases in the industry being well below par I hope they are really ironing out the game and delivering a polished product.  They are gambling though because if the launch is not 100% then they have made everyone wait 1 year for a product that is still bugged to hell.  We all should be grateful that they have backing to continue developing and not forced to release 6 months early like the rest of them.  I can see investors checking out a product for 10 minutes then demanding that it goes live asap.  Anyway here's hoping that WAR breaks the trend.

Google "MMORPGMaker" if you want to make your own MMORPG.

Heres to hoping that GB goes smoothly.

it will  :)

i can not wait until the NDA is lifted . i have so much i want to say about WAR ... it's killing me to keep my mouth shut  !

Personally I can't wait for all the people waiting to play the game and tell me their point of view.. rather than trying to sell them mine.

I'm in beta as well and probably wouldn't have the same kind of things to say as you... but that's why I kind of can't wait for a bunch to get in and try it for "real".

I will say that the beta is being run very professionally regardless of how I feel about the product..  which is something positive to say the least.

There's 2 types of Beta Testers:

1)  The all play, no work type (basically worthless)

2)  The types who realize this is BETA and do everything they can to help make it a better game through helpful gameplay suggestions and bug catches.

That's a fallacy that some beta testers seem to fall into. Probably based on the need to feel important.

While it does help to actively try to find bugs, MOST of the beta testing is to gather data, analyze it, and fix bugs, which doesn't require you do anything at all besides play the game.

The reality is that BOTH types of beta testers are just as useful to the devs, which is of course, why they are there.

Sorry to burst your bubble.

SWG pre cu/nge wanted!

I like that they want to remove the NDA. Not like Funcom. Seriously the companies are a world between...

Funcom can only lie and cheat and try to sell the game for what it isn't and Mythic has nothing to hide.

if they say some thing will be in the game it will.  i wouldn't be surprised if some things are not finished at release .  they never are but Mythic wont try and hide it liked the caped sieges in AOC ... do those even work yet ? lol

Yeah, but even if it is bugged at launch just think how much worse it would have been a year ago. Of course that assumes one plans on playing the game regardless and doesn’t just want to know if it’s any good or not so they can start following waiting on the next, next, ‘big thing’.

Anyway, it's great to hear that the NDA will be lifted so early; won't have to wait till after release to find out if I made the right decision in pre-ordering the CE; which judging by the general positivity of the beta testers on these board, I have.
