Two interesting surveys that seems more credible than Funcoms latest 700k whatwasitagain and shows the progression from launch to today.

Poor itemization, poor performance, poor class balance, and terrible customer support seem to be the major issues. This mirrors the sentiment in the thread about what's wrong with AoC.

Just curious: is it mainly an EU-based survey ?

Be careful when you fight the trolls, lest you become one.

Most people have played World of Warcraft before Age of Conan

From the few things on, there that I have read, it really does not look good for funcom.

Too lazy to explain why but its not exactly hidden...

Thanks for the polls. As a public administrator, I enjoy reading polls and dissecting the information they contain.

Reading those polls, I would be scared if I was Funcom. Now granted, the margin of error and all of that is difficult to determine, but the information contained in those polls points to a really bad place. I am basing my comments on the premise that these polls are a fair representation of the community as it relates to Age of Conan.

The information I am referring to is primarily a few particular questions: 18 (the lore question), 23 (the lacking content question), and the last question (27).

The reason i say these would worry me the most is that a lot of time the lore in a game will keep players around. I know I played SWG a lot longer than I planned too because I love Star Wars and the lore. Being able to see the iconic Star Wars characters helped to make up for a game that was lacking.

If the poll is any indication at all, very people know or care about the lore. Therefore, they are playing for other reasons. Many of these reasons are addressed in other questions and it does not bode well (balance issues, item customizations, etc...).

The content question is also problematic because many people are in the levels that lack content. If there is nothing keeping them in the game, then they will grow bored and quit. The worst part of this question is the level 80 aspect. In the 2nd link, the highest percentage of people who believe it lacks content is level 80!!! This is not good and it clearly proves that things to do at 80 (mainly the in-depth pvp) isn't working as they had hoped. I have always felt their system is too restrictive and conditional for pvp as an end-game scenario.

Finally, and most damning, is the last question. Almost a third of the players will not recommend the game to their friends. That is not good at all.

Now there is good news in the poll as well. If they work on technical/performance issues, people will like the game more (question 26). This is great for them. That means they have a good basis for a game and it does appeal to people. Lots of people do like the game and certain aspects of the game but it appears that things are keeping them from totally recomemnding or liking the game. Simply put, Funcom needs to work their rear-ends off on the game and make it better.

There is not doubt they will. Thats not the issue. The issue is simply this: will the community give them time to fix it and still be there? This poll, along with many other things, indicate that many in the community are fed up with broken shells of software that maquerade as games and will not give Funcom (or any company for that matter) time to get it right. The same will be true for Mythic-EA and WAR and any game in the future.

It seems to me that the community is fed up with broken games and be it right or wrong, the community isn't going to give Funcom the time. its sad to me because I had followed AOC for years and had the higjhest hopes that the game would be great. Sadly I was wrong and Funcom lost at least one customer for a long time to come.
