Your tears sustain me.

After finally being able to see the game in action and being played by a person who does more than mash the same key over and over while standing in one spot for 5 minutes (yah I am talking about the youtube vids) I can safely say that the combat is basically the same pace as WoW.

You have a 1 second universal cooldown, many instant attacks, and alot of the spells that have cast times can have the cast time reduced in some way through either correct use of skill chains or mastery options.

This game is solid.  I have not seen any issues at all out side of minor technical bugs which in no way interfere with you ability to play.  To those who complain about the combat animations and particle effects, so far all the attacks I have seen have unique animations and effects.  Not like WoW that uses the same animation and just changes the color of the particle effect.

Oh and by the way the mastery trees kick the crap out of talent trees so hard it isn't even funny.  They are similar in function but it is pulled off in a way that really shows the flaws to talents. I.E. you have to pick crap talents to get good ones in WoW, not the case in WAR.

Thats about all I can say without getting into NDA territory.

I don't think we need a threat for this.

Lets wait til the openbeta, and once people get zerged on his first RvR scenary, will change opinion.

To live free is worth dying for.

I remember when I first played EQ.  I thought the combat was slow, dull and boring.   Then I got the hang of it.

AO (when it worked) was fairly fast paced... SWG could be, DAoC was slow until you figured out how to work it.

Then came WoW, so straight forward that it wasn't hard to get the "action" going as it were in combat.  I've seen the video's on line, I too was concerned by the apparent lack of combat speed.

I'm no longer concerned at all about WAR's combat speed and am convinced that many of the video's you see on line are done showing people that have spent less then 15 min with the game.

The funny thing about speed of combat, is that it is all done in the math.

Cooldown timers, attacks, refreshes, interrupts, animation speeds, etc.. they are all controlled by variables server-side. To speed up combat, they simply adjust any or all, tweak damage to get a constant DPS for any one skill, and its done. Not really hard on their part, just slightly time consuming to adjust all the different skills and so forth, one by one.

That's only part of the equation.

Take WOW, if I'm a pure Arcane Spec mage, my combat's pretty darn slow.     If I am an arcane fire glass cannon, it's bursts of mega damage followed by slower steady damage and the occasional insta-cast.

It all works out in the end.

What really boils it all down, is knowing how to play the class you have.  IF you aren't familiar with, and utilizing all the tools the class has to offer... then it's going to be slow.

Most of the videos show that the person behind the mouse isn't familiar, thus looks slow.

I'm pretty sure the problem isn't how you level on your wow characters, I'm pretty sure the thing that we're worried about is combat being similar to the youtube use 3 abilities and stand still in front of the enemy combat most of the youtube views are showing.

Beta, hasn't even EDIT DUE TO NDA RESTRICTIONS

Besides, they already said you will have 20+ skills, abilities, tactics to use when you get to 40. So, I will go by what they say rather then a bunch videos that we have no idea when and where they were taken and under what circumstances.
