1) I sometimes mistype homophones in haste, such as 'there' for 'their', because I'm thinking of the pronunciation first, not because my spelling is bad.

2) Proofreading chat or a post is often an afterthought, hence the common sight of an asterisked correction in game chat.  In forums it definitely helps to use the preview function.

3) We need to distinguish between word abuse and phrase abbreviation.  For example, typing 'ne' or '4' instead of 'any' or 'for' is confusing and either pseudo-hip or lazy.  On the other hand, abbreviations such as 'afk', 'dot' and 'wts' are easy to recognize and save typing.

4) Chronic misuse, abuse and misspelling of English has a ripple effect.  If you take time out from games and forums once in a while to read a few well-written books then we will all benefit.  Buy a dictionary and challenge yourself.  Rent the movie "Educating Rita" .

You'd be amazed at the number of resumes (CV for our British and Candian friends) that I've thrown into the trash of candidates for a job that requires a college degree, which had major spelling or grammatical errors. If you can't take the time to proof-read before sending it out, I'm not going to waste my time to interview you.

I really pray that it's due to laziness, and not poor education. (This doesn't apply to non-native English speakers. They at least try to learn and improve.)

As an old commercial said, "People really do judge you by the way you speak..." It also applies to how well you write.

I wish everyone thought the way you did. The world would actually be a better place. "Teach your children to have manners and they will grow up to be leaders". It's too bad society (the bad society, not the good society) teaches kids all the wrong values. And it's even more amazing how quickly children learn all the wrong values off the internet. If anything, the internet proves that mental disease can spread even through an electronic means... Am I the only person that realizes this?! And when I say "children", that includes teenagers and adults (18+) who still act childish. This is starting to become a major problem and I really don't see any kind of cure for it besides parents not allowing their children to get online or to at least regulate it! Would you want your kids hanging out with a bunch of people who you know are a bad influence on them?  When people say "you gotta have common sense", or when a father says "don't be stupid", are those values no longer respected because I'm really starting to see tons of people online who lack common sense.

I mean for crying out loud Snoop makes up words you can now find in the dictionary m'nizzle, f'sho.

I am sorry, but the punctuation for ya'll is incorrect. It is y'all, because y'all was derived from "you all". For example: "Do you all want to go to the movies?" Instead, southern people use it like so: "Do y'all want to go to the movies?" Note: not all southern people use the word y'all. It is most commonly found in the South Eastern United States.

The use of y'all is more prominent in the south, since that is where it originated from. In the North Eastern U.S. it is highly unlikely you will find someone using it. However, you are more likely to find them saying this instead: "Do you guys want to go to the movies?"

Very interesting indeed, how the English language has changed just from going North to South in the United States, no? Is is also interesting to note that different parts of the U.S. also have their own accents when talking. The different accents of talking and different styles of writing are not inherent to the U.S. only. Several countries around the world have different dialects and accents in their language, even though they are using the same language.

Heck, even the U.S. english language is far different than the English used in the United Kingdom. They still use words such as colour. Why does the U.S. not use the word colour? Because, after the revolutionary war it was a way to rebel against Britian. We changed street names from british lords and queens to the names of our presidents and founding fathers. We also removed several vowels from words in the English language that Britian used and still uses. In theory, the American english language is not only an offset of the British English language, but it is not the original English language either.

/end rant

I despise illiteracy or intellectual laziness.  Get it right before your high school English teachers slap your parents.   It takes less than one minute to proofread (you internet generation dancing monkeys might have to look that one up) a post.  I'm not talking about typos here ... I'm talking about selecting the correct word in the first place.  And, please, do not give me that "you know what I mean" crap.  You can point to your mouth and rub your stomach and I know you are hungry ...  But it's still not English.

As some already say, many dont care also many are not from english speaking countrys, not all master english language.

And if you think its not english, why bother then?

Dont read it then simple:)

Beautiful night tonight, wouldn''t you agree?

ok, the next thing here, why the hel are you aquainting Intilect with spelling? does spelling really have anything to do with someones IQ?, and if it does, how?

secondly, language does not always have to stay the same, as you say it does. Language actually splits in o two different languages every few hundred years years, because of so many changed in the, that they basically form  distict languages. Why can't things change?, the world is not gonna wait behind for people who can not comprahend it.

thirdly, i think it funny you saying "you internet generation dancing monkeys", why does the internet generation have to wait behind, and change their ways, for people such as you?

fourthly(i dont even know if thats a word)  why are you saying so many things about the real world, and how we are going to fail in the real world because we don't use proper grammar in forums and in MMO's. people know that they have to spell right on things such as that, and a colladge aplication is something that people do not rush. don't aquaint what peopel do here to real life, as it is not the always case.

why is it though, that so many things are happening in the world, war, famine, drouts, gas prices, political drama, poverty, wellfare, medicare, and yet, Video games, and places like this, which are meant for entertainment, and to get away from the "real world" being censored by people, for how we use grammar of all things. Flaming about Racism, or eing morbid, or threats and idiocy is one thing, but atacking people about Grammar is something else entirely. let people typ how they want, the internet is the ultimate place for free speech. and "free" speech also encompases how you "speek" your speech
