Paid MMORPG subscriptions are the ONLY valid rating meters because people have to pay to vote."

If hater of cigarettes just stopped using the product and didn't complain, would have ever known they caused cancer?

We haters are doing a community service trying to inform other people of the flaws of the product.

If you are enjoying AoC, congratulations!  Enjoy your cancer.

Waiting for the next thing

Now I havent played aoc yet I plan to in maybe 6 months to a year. I also understand some of the flaws and the reason why someone would be upset with funcom.

But likening them to a Tobacco company is a bit far chap.

True, at least cigarettes are addictive.

The natural urge to have people swayed by your arguments, agree with you on things, has become pretty much overpowering in online forums.  Conan has its faults, but they're pretty minor when contrasted with the insane rhetoric spouted by people in the forums.

It also has its good points. Combat is very viceral compared to most games. It feels like you're actually doing something more than simply pressing the next attack button in your "chain".

For me, the biggest problem with AoC is the number of people who played briefly, then angrily went back to WoW because the "end game" wasn't as developed, or something.

I found the combat in Conan to be very boring after the cutting off of heads, arms ect got old, took about 15 level for that. Then you just wish you could skip the stupid slow motion decapitations ect. After that its just hit button 1 2 3 4 ect which is the only thing that keeps you from falling asleep at the keyboard most of the time but not always.

Bravo, you explained age of Conan's combat system perfectly :)

And the game has many, many more issues than an "undeveloped endgame".

I hear the mortality rate for people who have played AoC actively is like 8/10.

OMG AOC GAVE ME CANCER

Over-dramatic metaphors aside, I think what the OP is trying to say is that we are warning people about the crap that is AOC like ex-smokers are warning current smokers. Or ex-addicts warn people about drugs. I think.

There is a real nugget of truth here, as ex-smokers and ex-addicts can often become the most extreme people when it comes to warning against the dangers of smoking and drugs.

Except that playing AoC is not in any way shape or form life-threatening, nor will it ever substantially reduce your quality of life, your life expectancy, or have any negative effects on your health what so ever - unless of course you happen to be Korean and forget to eat, drink, and sleep while playing it for 64 hours straight, and then proceed to die from exhaustion.

I find likening yourself to people who actually do their communities a service by informing them of the very real dangers of using certain products, to be not only distasteful and suggest that you are very much out of touch with reality, but also disrespectful towards those who take it upon themselves to warn future users and aid recovering ex-users by drawing upon their own experiences.

Age of Conan is a fucking video game, it hasn't killed anyone yet.

Actually, playing AoC has the following potential side effects.

- Shortening life expectancy of AoC characters.

- Depression

- Decrease in MMO usage

- Moodswings

- Rampant and extreme associations to one side or another

- Bad taste mostly found in the oral cavity.

So indeed AoC affects the health of your virtual avatars.
