WAR (Warhammer Online)

I would love to hear opinions on this... I want plenty of opportunities for fun open world pvp encounters.

Will core provide that, or should I go for open pvp?

any pointers?

There isn't even an Open-RvR server in beta apparently

This is not old news there is no Open PvP or RvR in war the server rule sets will be all the same its one game with no ruleset versions.

Anywho to answer your question, I believe yes there will be lots of open RvR to be had on both servers.  I believe the only real difference between the 2 will be, how do you like your PvE?  When you want to PvE to you want to do it in peace with out ever being bothered?  Then Core ruleset is for you.  Do you enjoy the edge of your seat always looking over your back feeling, even during PvE?  Then open ruleset is for you.

The game itself does a really good job of funelling you into RvR, both scenarios and open RvR.  So that is why I believe that Open RvR will abound on all servers.

Then you tell me. On the Open RvR server, if you go down to your friendly lower tiers, do you turn into a chicken? Is there any way to go down into the lower tiers without getting turned into a chicken or will we be blocked out?  I've been hearing talk about this a lot.

If they just slap on a PvP flag for the lower level *areas* and in doing so lock us out of those areas unless we want to be a chicken I'll consider that quite a copout to be honest. They could at least put some thought into it.

No this is not talking about ganking(that's why I said friendly areas), it's about finishing unfinished content/tok etc.

From what I have seen you only turn into a chicken when you attack a lower person.  IF you don't want to RVR don't go to those areas, once you step into the fray you have 10 seconds before you become flagged and a huge warning pops up on your screen telling you so.

Mythic only made an "open RvR" server because of all of the complaints by people.  Quite frankly I don't like the server and I don't think Mythic does.  If you are rank 31 and in tier 3, if you go to group with a rank 29 friend and help him in tier 2 you are still turned into a chicken with 1hp.  Their core server rules are setup for RvR and PvP, so why worry about , I think Mythic did this against their will, in order to not get trolled to death in the forums.

The reason I asked is because I would have *very* much preferred to have a server experience somewhat like Daoc where "red is dead". Meaning that if I see an enemy I can kill them, whereever I am (and I mean in Tier 4 here, I'm not talking ganking).

However if all they can come up with is some half-baked "ow we'll just auto toss up the flag in lower tiers and PvE areas" and that as a result blocks me out of lower level content and helping friends then yes, I do have to agree "why bother".

I guess I'm just hoping they would have taken the time to do it decently. That and I haven't heard a confirmation yet on whether it'll work like this or on whether it works like that when you attack someone. The latter would be fine, I could care less about that.
