Before WOW, there were MMORPG''s. After WOW there were online solo single RPG''s. |
I know there must be indie companies out there crafting some new games. Curt Schilling is funding a new game, I think; haven't heard much on that so far. Please list any you know about, and please exclude especially bizarre concepts (like all characters have wings and can fly, or anime graphics, etc..). I'm basically looking for a "new" game design in the spirit of the best of EQ/WOW-type elements. I'm also looking for games not on tracks, although some direction is okay, I don't really care about following someone's "story." I'm looking for games that have freedom and mystery in their worlds. Something I could play for years and perhaps not uncover every secret in the game world. Has to be a world first, and game second. And "new". Please, no Vanguard or EQ2. Thanks.

If you have the opportunity, look up W.E.L.L. Online as from what I see is very promising. To me it seems to be the upgrade or sequel to Ryzom in terms of freedom and uniqueness, yet borrowing from the good in todays games. More sandbox/skill based, less linear/level based. |

why do humans build, because it isn''t there |
No indy game will touch world of ever quest type stuff, there's to many noises so a small one gets lost. |

| “You don’t want my hospitality?” Gebhard asked, bristling with mock umbrage. “No,” Gregory said. “But with what I make at the bureau, I don’t want my wife getting used to it.” |
