From what I've seen so far WAR seems to be a very PG experience, combat and battle in general doesnt' seem WAR-like at all. Where are the brutal blood and guts that this franchise is know for? When people and monsters die in this game there should blood spraying all over the place. The battlefield should be soaked in blood and broken bodies in RvR.  In every Warhammer game I've ever play the developer always made sure to  illustrate the difference between the WAR universe vs the typical D&D/LOTRO gaming world, and thats GORE. Tons of gore and brutal, horrible, deaths. Where is all that in this game? The combat is tamed and generic wihtout any hint of violence or brutality what so ever. I think Mythic totally missed the boat on this one. This game should've been rated M. Its like playing Mortal Kombat without theblood and  fatalities.

I hadn't even noticed a lack of blood and guts.

I just logged in to check and you're right, it's like a flash when my axe strikes.

Interesting choice, but not game breaking.

Somehow I knew in hell there would be mushrooms.

Well... from my PW experience, I honestly never thought about the gore, or the possibility of it. I think there are already a ton of effects during battles, blood everywhere would be a little overkill in my opinion. Not saying I wouldn't enjoy more violence.. nothing would be more satisfying as playing a Bright Wizard and having a kill animation with wailing and flailing while they're burning to death or hacking through a High Elf as a Chosen and seeing a pool of blood around their corpse.

So basically instead of making a WAR mmo mythic decided to wrap a WoW coating over a DAoC shell? Way to sell out. Other than the green orcs I'm not feeling the WAR franchise in this game at all. I'm not a huge Warhammer fan but I do know what set it apart from the zillion of D&D style fantasy games out there, and thats the over the top violence with buckets of gore.

Ehm... The simple fact that Dark Elves will cast buffs and heals on goblins in this game is a tad more un-warhammer than the lack of blood. Mythic has captured each race very good, and they all do feel a lot Warhammer-esq, however the blasphemy that is Destructions makes any discussion whether Mythic stays to the Warhammer world void.

I understand why they did it, it's just sad the wonderful greenskins they made will be unplayable for me due to which races they're allied with (being a Warhammer nerd). It would have been beyond amazing to see three factions instead, Order, Chaos which would have included the current chaos classes (not devouted entirly to Tzeentch however) along with some Slaneesh Dark Elf cultists and last Greenskins. Greenskins would consist of the current classes along with another orc class and a ogre! The chaotic three factions would bring had made WAR a truly amazing game.

Though I'll sure play WAR anyway ^^.

Sad thing is this would probably have worked from all the damn people rolling destruction. You could probably have all the destruction classes as their own factions and still outnumber order (The way things are so far is what I'm saying. Yes their is a chance that come launch order will even up with destro.) I like it the way it is though since I never even played the TT nor do I care about the lore. Massive amounts of destro means they think they can zerg order down. While so far they are failing at defeating any type of organized group of half their numbers.

On to the topic..

Would have been way badass with blood and guts spewing everywhere instead of some flashes going off. But hey, money makes the world go round.

Really? The over the top violence and buckets of gore were never the reason I liked the IP. I like it for its dark humor and its grim world. I never saw any of those buckets of gore when playing the tabletop and reading the army books.

My guess is that it's to reduce lag.

Reducing lag is the reason all the toons look the same. It's also the reason for the few spell effects.
