The folks at EverQuest have posted a guide to help new players get from levels 1 to 10.

Near your Guildmaster, you will find a Spell Vendor for your class. The spells available here are basically the same as were available in the Tutorial (though they are grouped by single class, instead of in pairs).

If you're a class that uses spells, you will need to take a slight detour to the Library in the Plane of Knowledge to purchase your spells over level 10. To get there, open your Find Window and click on the Blightfire Moors entry. Follow the path and run through the zone line. Blightfire Moors can be a dangerous place, but with a little bit of awareness, you should cross it without any problems. Keep your eye out for any critters and stay well away from them. If you head straight out, you will pass a signpost and see a path in front of you. Follow that path, staying to the south (heading east) where it forks, until you reach an outpost. On the east side of the outpost, the path continues around a hill. You will eventually come across a stone pedestal with a book on top of it. Click there to be transported to the Plane of Knowledge.

Once in the Plane of Knowledge, use your Find window again and look for your Class spell vendor. Your spells are grouped within level ranges on each vendor. Once you have the ones you need, head back to Crescent Reach.

Read more here.

Yes people still play. And enjoy the game, even with other people mocking and ridiculing one of their pasttimes. :)

 Thumbs down on this article.

The tutorial instance has everything you need to go from 1-10, there is no need at all to leave it .  The author seems to have missed that the tutorial instance also has 1-12 spells available for purchase instead of 1-10 as he mentions.  In fact it is much easier to build up a little nest egg in the tutorial collecting staffs which go for 4+ plat each.  You won't be finding such bountiful items in the wild as he recommends.

He also fails to mention that you need all the latest expansions to go to the areas he is suggesting.

All I can say is know your subject before you write about it, it is quite obvious the OP does not.

It''s one thing to have a opinion, but enforcing one is unconstitutional.

you just need to start out in this game as max level and go through some tutorial on it. Because EQ now is so AA based and max level means nothing now.

Everquest has the best raids therte is, and its lore is deep, the problems it has lackluster copy andpaste item design and a ancient code . Arent that big of a deal. I do agree thata  MAJOR overhaul isneeded however, a superior , or similar to eq2 charactermodel system, complewte overhaul of all ZONES(OK MAYBE ONE EXPANSION ata  time but every single zone redone and new content added for high lvls as well.

Beating sendaii the first time ah whata rush aftert that monster of a raid!. And when we beat lethar itl be even better

At least not since they nerfed plague rat tails at the same time they released TSS (it's newbie zones still have items of this value).

Playing EQ and having fun in no way requires max level or massive AA's.

You can have just as much fun at level 20 as you can at level 80 with 1500 AA's. Having fun and enjoying the game will eventually progress you to the latter point, but it is by no means the destination that is important, it is the fun you had getting there that is memorable.
