That is exactly what I saw in the AOC forums only instead of WoW they said AOC Blows Hard. Almost every forum I go to seems to have people predicting the game will be shut down in mere months, it sucks so bad it should be shut down, or the developers are scammers and crooks. But when I come to the WoW forums I don't seem to see this negativity. I have played WoW, EQ2, Eve, LOTRO, Tabula Rasa, AOC and Saga of Ryzom and while WoW is pretty good it has major shortcoming that cause me to always be looking for something better. Why is it that WoW seems to be held on a pedestal?

My complaints with WoW:

1. Poor Texture Quality

2. No Graphical Updates to Existing World Areas

3. Not Enough Customization

4. Seems Rather Simple and Basic

5. Combat System Should be More Engaging

The number one reason I think WoW beats all the other games is the fact that I can walk all over the place without load screens. Why can't anyone else seem to do this? Having load screens and instanced zones is a real immersion killer for me and something that is more important than anything else.

Now if they had a Starcraft MMO I think I would finally be satisfied. :D

Its all fun and games until the flying monkeys attack.

Simple is how blizzard made the game to be played.  The simple combat system make the game not very hard to just jump into and start playing.

Anyway though.  Your idea for adding an option to the Video screen to make exsisting textures better is a good idea.  That way blizz wouldnt lose the people with poor pcs.  Only thing is I would make it start on "Off" by default, since some people wont have teh technical knowhow to search the video options.  You could post that on blizzards suggestion forum.

I would avoid the rest of the forums though.  Its 85% flame posts ;D

The answer is pretty obvious. Look at your complaints. They are pretty touchy feely aren't they? Where is the "constantly crash to desktop", "Quests are broken or buggy", "Skills don't work as expected", "No content past the level of X", etc? Those are game breakers. The things you just listed off are things that you only notice when everything else is running smoothly. If WoW had all the problems I just listed, then no one would be playing, but it doesn't. It's flaws are minor in comparison. That's why.

I have no comments on your other views, since they're all subjective - except for this:

3. Not Enough Customization

Not enough ?
Not enough in what way ?
Not enough compared to which game ?

If you're talking about the UI, then I seriously doubt whether you've genuinely played WoW as you have claimed.

He's just one of those people that likes to flame WOW then goes to adore WAR because other people are talking about it and the awsome hype that it has.

Well thanks for sharing your opinion. Maybe the reason why you dont see any negativity here is people actually enjoyed the time they spend in the game. Ive stopped playing WoW about 6 months ago due to irl commitments but looking back at the time i spent in the game, i have absolutely no regrets.

Feel sorry for people like you who regret having spent time playing a game. more so when your actually paying to play it. Imo time wasted is much more valuable than money. also you could have bought your arguments in here without using the "blows hard" in the title.

Iam sure that someone else will counter your "complaints" one by one but i dont agree with any of them. None of them are gamebreaking flaws/bugs but more like aspects/features of the game you did not like.

Yea id love to see a starcraft MMO as well but Blizz has already announced that their next gen mmo wont be starcraft . Good luck and hope you find an MMO with the features your looking for.

The reason I titled this thread what I did is that when I read things like this in the AOC forum it makes me just about fall out of my chair laughing because it sounds like something a fanboy would say and is so overly dramatic.

I have played and stuck with WOW longer than any other MMO. I have been playing it since release but just feel like after all that time I want something more. I just don't see why Blizzard seems to be the only company that can make a really good MMO with one continous world.

The graphics requirements for WOW are pretty low but I know some people won't spend $100 for a high end video card like an 8800GT and they want to cater to those people but would it really hurt to have higher quality options for those of us who spend money for the high end cards??? My brother spent $50 on an 8600GTS and it runs WOW will everything maxxed out just fine yet he says there are people he plays with who wouldn't even spend that for an upgrade.

When I say that I want more customization I mean that I want characters abilites to be more unique. I feel like when you go up against another race or class that you pretty much know what to expect from them. If there were more talents or abilites you could get that branched out and had specializations I think it would add more uncertainty to PVP.

Well i haven't played AOC so i really cant say anything for or against it. As to the persistant world argument, i guess its alot more difficult to implement it than most people give it credit for, as i don't see why any game would wanna keep loading screens in it.

On to the graphics, a while ago i did see a petition floating around asking blizz to give players with high end rigs the option to play a high res version of the game via a downloadable patch. My home PC has dual SLi 8800s, so yea i agree with you on that arguement.

Blizz will also never adopt the realistic gfx apprach (AoC, Oblivion) as they want the games art style to stay true to Warcraft 3. Most people bash the game for this cartoony feel but alot of people prefer this art direction and iam one of them.

Well i dont know if you have been following the beta progress but they have changed the way alot of classes behave. Alot of new spells/talents that have knockbacks/snare pulls are being added to the game. And for the most part the community has been satisfied with the changes (and if you know the WoW community thats quite an achievement). Inscriptions will also affect the way each class plays
