Did they not push the big red button in the final season of SG1 because they could no longer continue cloning themselves, destroying their race? If that is so.....

Why does the preview for this game on the Ark of Truth DVD show an Asguard in the party? Just curious or have I missed the timeline or details?

You can play as the Asgard in-game is why. I haven't seen all the SG-1 episodes so.

the game takes place in the time frame between season 8 and 9 ( or is it 9 and 10)

before the asguard were defeated by the replicators

ive never watched Stargate, besides the first movie, but I'll say this.

When making an MMO, a company can, and will, bend lore a bit to fit something in, or make it better for a game.

The game is supposed to take place between seasons 8 and 9. the a Asgard kill themselves in season 10.  so Asgard are still around.

and i am positive it is spelled Asgard not Asguard

not 100% on this but i thought i read somwhere that the game take place in an alternate stargate universe.. dont member where tho

Not at all. The game is supposed to parrallel the show, and be the exact same lore that the show is built on. They are involving the writers of the show in the game. I think the idea is to eventually have content that goes back and forth between the show and the game as new shows come out on TV.

As someone mentioned above, it takes place before season 10 when the Asgard were defeated.  Some people still think we will see the Asgard again, another colony that was never mentioned.  Maybe they will show up during the Atlantis series, or the new series that will be starting soon.

this may have already been said or asked but are they going to have Atlantis at launch or is it going to be more like an exspansion??

From what I've read, Atlantis is currently planned as the first expansion, where we will most likely see space-flight and such.  [Due to the puddle jumpers, and things like that.]

Actually, the game takes place between seasons 3 to 8. A large span of time that allows plenty of variety to be involved as well as a large segment of the various races encountered.
