The suspense is terrible. I hope it will last.

Start taking advantage of the DAoC Free Trial. As a new user to the game, it would probably best to try this game out since some of the Mechanics will be Implemented in its upcoming MMORPG Brother Warhammer Online.

No I dont work for Mythic, but alot of people have Warhammer on their minds these days. At least you can see what Mystic has in store for WAR when it comes to RvR.

And avoid the question, what is RvR in Warhammer?

Waiting for Earthrise, Stargate Worlds, Fallen Earth, Mortal Online, Darkfall and WAR 40K Online.

I probably won't bother with Warhammer.  Simply because I hated the graphics in the single player version and they plan to stay true to them (which is great by the way, just not my thing).  For me graphics isn't everything but if they break immersion (For me they do) then it ruins the roleplay aspect of the game for me.  Warhammer, Warcraft and several other single player RPG's never suited me because the graphics were so cartoonish.

Currently Playing: Dungeons and Dragons Online.

What single player version of Warhammer are you writing about? As I am aware, there were no single player Warhammer RPG game, only 2 very old strategic/rts games (Shadow of the Horned Rat and one more). And looks like WHO will be good game, I hope better then DAoC (which I like and still play, almost 5 years - from beta).

"She turned me into a newt!" "A newt?" "....I got better....."

It's mythic, not mystic

Actually the RVR function of WAR will be different from DAOC.  It's in a article on this very website (yes I read more than just forums).

I've seen the graphics also and they will be very nice and not WoW 5 year old cartoonish.

I'll be heading to war when it comes out but until then Im back in dark age and getting myself built back up again.

I'm curious about that as well... The only "single player" Warhammer based game that I know of that came out any time recently was Dawn of War, and that was a RTS, and it was also based on the Warhammer 40k universe, not the Warhammer Fantasy universe... Mythic has never done a single player Warhammer game, therefore any SP WH game out there can't be used as a comparrison as far as graphics go because we didn't do those graphics...

If you want to see graphics from WAR there are early alpha version screenshots at several places around the web... Some here at this site, quite a few over at Warhammer Alliance and other sites...

Those are the ones I am talking about.  I said RPG and should have said RTS  Didn't like the graphics *style* they used.  From looking at the artwork they're planning for WHO I doubt I'll be into it.

I'm very picky about graphics style and while I agree they're not "wowish" from the screens I've seen they ARE 'cartoonish' to me.   I prefer the photo-realistic look in DAOC personally.  The hyper-colorful "just jumped out of a comic-book" graphics that seem prevalent today just don't appeal to me.  I am, however, apparently in the minority in that viewpoint (probably because I'm 38 and on the older side of the MMO spectrum at this point) so I think WHO will probably do just fine with those graphics.

Personally I'm not really watching any of the current crops of MMORPG's because none of them are going to emphasize a skill system (asside from some obviously impending flops) but are, rather, going to be going with a class/level system.  So with DAOC I shall stay (and yes, I know it's a level grinder but it's one I can tolerate due to the in-class skill system but I still don't really enjoy the level grind).   I may try WHO if a free trial comes out, or if I get in the beta.  But the graphics, so far, are a turn off for me.  Not because they're 'bad' per-se but because, for me, they break the immersion.

There isn't much of a level grind in DAoC.  I'm a GM of a split guild... 50/50 between RvR and PvE.  We PL and help with arti's and such all the time.  The guild can take a person from level 5 - 50 in a weekend usually.

Kal,

I'm not saying it's a bad level grind.  I just don't like class/level based systems.  As I said I tolerate DAOC because other than that the gameplay is quite good.  And there isn't a "new" UO out there anymore since the CU was rolled and, more specifically since SWG was cancelled and replaced with NGE.

I enjoy DAOC, always have.  It's not my IDEAL MMO but it's the best thing currently on the market.  So I play it.  Other than the fact that it is a level grinder I love it.

Personally I prefer a skill based MMORPG along the lines of UO and, to a lesser extent, SWG.  I wasn't saying the level climb is BAD in DAOC.  I just don't like 'level' based systems at all.   That's all.
