I went from super excited about his game (I've been waiting for a real pvp game to be made since I started playing these games) to super suspicious of it's quality.
All the features listed sound like the devs have all played mmo games extensively and got tired of the same lame tacked on pvp in every game.....however that being said. HAve you guys actually looked at the combat... what little I saw in the official video looked AWFUL... choppy animations no skill use... the engine just looks like one of those engines that's always going to run kinda bad and be full of bugs and considering how long it's taken to develop... these devs just don't ahve the speed to fix bugs and optimise as needed I'm guessing (I said I'm guessing)... just got that feeling. Even so I'll give the game a fair shake, but the combat looks to be a real let down just like DDO's "amazing realtime combat" that turned out to be a total joke. |

Choppy animations, wtf? Have you actually played MMO's before? They are pretty fucking far from AWFUL I would say. Also, that video was made last february, almost a year ago.

I understand your concerns, but I don't think we've gotten a very good quality in game vid as of yet. Also, we don't know what was implimented at the of the creation of that video. A lot of that video even showing up was somewhat of a push by the fanbase to see 'something'.
I don't trust videos or screenshots, only actually trying it yourself will you actually see if it's any good. We have no idea the quality of system used, how much of the gameplay was used, etc. to make a good descision based on the videos. Personally I think the movement animations look fine, I would like to see a one on one melee combat, some ranged footage and some magic footage. Unfortunately we've gotten little bits and peices here and there. Also, I don't think I've played an MMO yet where the quality of combat was super high. I think the closest melee-wise was Matrix Online actually. The melee combat was cool in how it looked, tho I didn't like the whole interlock thing. Realistic (to an extent) looking combat, but locked to an opponent took away from it. |

Yeah your right it was an early vid, I'm definetly going to try the game... the more I read about it the more I look forward to trying it out. The animations I was referring to btw were the combat animations.. the sword swings and contact hits were pretty lackluckster. However most mmo's are in that regaurd. 2moons and Cabal online are first two I've seen with good looking combat (however the games themselves will be nothing compared to the depth of this one)
and to the guy who asked me if I'd ever played an mmo before.. lol.. yes far far far too many.. bout the only one on this site I at least haven't downloaded and tried would be Eve. |

Yeah, I think the biggest problem is MMOs try to make up for the fact that the technology doesn't really allow for good smooth combat by adding a lot of flashy stuff. It's usually about all they have going for them. Supposedly the feel of combat is similar to what you'd find in Mount and Blade, but that has no multiplayer and there are some differences. But that was a game they said had strong similarities. (plus it's fun to play around with)

Animations are never one of the first features of a game to be completed. In fact I have seen early videos of a few other big name mmo's that has zero animations. The chars just floated around like stick figures. It is just one less thing for them to worry about until the actual game mechanics are tweaked. Rest assured, this game will turn out very good. A little birdie told me so.

Well the more recent screenshots are awesome especially compared to the video.. Everybody has their own doubts about if its gonna be good or not, it all comes down to play another game till DF starts Beta And we will see what happens.
