I've seen this game mentioned in articles as replys but didn't see a thread for it so I figured I would mention it. Nostale started closed beta on Aug 21. The game is a 2d-3dish mmorpg with the same asian graphics we are used to. You have two different levels, basic and job. Once you reach job lvl 20 you can choose from archer/warrior/mage. It isn't that bad of a grind up until 20 job lvl though because about every level you get a new skill up until then that ranges from melee to ranged to magic. There is also a pet system for an adventuring companion that you can get at level 1 without any trouble. You can have multiple pets, switch out them at any time, and take control of the pet like it was your character. There are instanced quests/dungeons with time limits and objectives and you can challenge the record time (haven't done it, but I assume there is some reward). Everything is available at level 1 though so there isn't a grind to look at that stuff.
I started playing yesterday and I have found it interesting enough to hold me off until Age of Armor and Fiesta go into open beta.

It's a pretty good game. Nothing too special, not a bad grind, nice graphics, and cool pet system. Try it. |

Heh I like the look, I was expecting a 3d world with 2d visuals on top but it all seems to look 3d to me. |

Ok my mistake the characters and enemies are 2d but the sprite renders are done pretty well, if not a tad low in the animation area. The game plays in a fun way so far, I like it as a free game but all is wiped in a few days to prepare an open beta so I won't play too much. |

I think open beta starts today. The game is ok as a time filler. Pet system is alright and you have NPC join your party at lvl 25 called Rhain. |
