Alright, been reading a lot about this game, and I am pretty much convinced. It seems to have a lot of haters that are pointing out stupid flaws in order to knock the game... which basically makes me want to play even more.

Things I have found mixed info about are the following, and I would like some help:

1)Zones. How many are there? Are they graphically and environmentally different? I hate playing games where you see the same forests from level 1-100.

2)Quests. I love quests. I read quest text. Is this a quest driven game?

3)Groups. Is it easy to find one if you need one? Is there a "LFG" system in place?

4)Armor. Am I going to look like everyone else who plays my class (like WoW).

I also played SWG back when it was fun. How does it compare to that game?

Thanks in advance!

This game does not compare to (original) SWG, period.  Well, actually, it compares to the new SWG's combat system quite well.  Don't think of TR as an mmo.  Think of it as 3rd person shooter with target-locking assistance.  Also, unless they changed ALOT in the game since I stopped testing it, don't expect to group much.

And finally, don't play TR like you played WoW.  You would exhaust all the game has to offer in a week if you do.

if you want a quest based game with 3000+ quests with great lore you should try LOTRO.

Yeah, I played LOTRO... and I LOVED the early levels... but after Weathertop... ug... and LFG Barrows... no thanks.

So I have heard the haters about the Grouping... anyone who actually likes this game? I kinda want information, not love/hate either way. I am going to get the game no matter what, just want some info.

I think you should spend the $50 for the box and the $15 a month for TR.
Leave WoW and play TR!

That way you won't have to put up with a stable game, more content than you could do in 2 years of continuous play, more quests than you can do with one character, gear that is so varied that I have NEVER seen two characters exactly fitted out, completely finished world, extremely variant echosystems, fully functional PvP, Raid, Reputation, PvE, Crafting, and so forth.  There IS a reason 9 million people play the game, you know.

But, by all means, sign up for TR !

Sounds like it is just right for your play style and outlook.

Which is why I would never play this game. The original SWG was excellent while the NGE is a plague on the MMO world.

And the fact that you could exhaust the game in a week is another reason why I would never play this game. Why would I want to play a game like that?

And no grouping?

Thank the stars for Age of Conan. These single player games made into MMOs to appeal to people with 5 minutes a day to play are ruining the industry and taking away game companies' incentives to innovate.

Yeah... played WoW since release... hence the burnout.

Why do people get so angry when someone wants to try something new?

Notice, most people here are just naysaying, most of the players that like the game are already playing.  Listen, they have made quite a bit of revisions since beta.

The combat system isn't like the NGE, it's like what the NGE should have been. Target lock isn't as sticky as it once was, but you can set it to be stickier or to not have any stickiness at all.

The graphics are very good, the combat is extremely fast paced, and the UI is easy to use.  It still has a few bugs here and there.

They increased the difficulty quite a bit, and weapons decay much quicker if you don't get them repaired frequently or have backup weapons.

The crafting system is still a bit clunky, but you can craft some decent items if you always reverse engineer the weapons you can't use, or don't have room for.

Grouping happens quite a lot more, since the game has started I've noticed much more grouping. In fact in the first miasma cave, if you don't group you will be there forever.  Also, groups for instances happen without fail every time I get on.

LOTRO is strictly WoW with a LOTR skin and some actual lore.  Between that and TR they are two different games.

As far as content goes, I don't know how much end game content they've added, but you'll have tons of missions at the start, you'll run into so many it can get confusing with so many different waypoints on your map.  You can turn off the waypoints you don't need right away.

Leveling from 1 - 15 you should have no problems and can do it in a day if you play it on WoW standards, but at that point you'll find it really difficult to solo.

I didn't play the game very much, so I can't give really good answers, but:

1) There are diffirent zones, tough not many. Those zones are big, and there are also very diffirent places inside same zones. But I still felt that there was something missing from the zones. It seemed that while diffirent places in the zone had their own lore, there was no zone-wide lore and no zone-wide theme specific to that zone. And when I entered a new zone, I saw some new enemies but mostly just the old. The zones just don't feel like zones should feel. They were, more like one huge zone with diffirent wariations inside it, and the zone lines done only because of server limitations (transfer from one server to another when switching zone).

2) There are many quests in the game, tough not as many as in WoW, EQ 2 or Lotro. Some are brilliant, while some are incredibly boring and stupid. I'd say that this game is more for you if you enjoy defending an outpost wich is attacked by banes, and sometimes engaging to battle going all the time all around you just for the fun of it, than if you just want to set yourself an aim (some quest) and complete it.

3) There isn't any good LFG system, honestly I'm hoping that they'd improve the LFG options there are a little over time. However, I think finding groups is still usually easy enough, one server has many copies of each area, level diffirences don't mean so much, and you won't have to be as picky when choosing wich classes you want to your groups as you have to be in many other MMOs. So that there are plenty of people who hear when you call LFG and could potentially come.

4) You can dye armor and choose its colors. So unless the person next to you has choosen same colors as you have, you'll look diffirent from him.

In the end, after playing beta I ended up returning to WoW. Even if I'm already bored with the game, it's still by far the best there is atm.

EDIT:

Maskedweasel unless they changed the miasma cave after ending beta, the trick in there is to shoot with the heaviest weapon you ha
