I intend to live forever -- So far so good!

And since I figure that at least 1 third of the posters here are past their pre-pubescant stage in life and are able to actually grow facial hair I figured I'd post this question here.

I've been thinking about buying an electric razor.  Many people have told me not to and that nothing shaves closer then a blade.  I've also tried one of the electric ones with a foil or whatever you call it and found that it didn't catch some of the "tricky" hairs on my neck.  I was wondering if the rotary ones are any better?  The rotation of the heads I figure would catch most if not all of the hair but don't feel like forking over the money for one.

Any help would be appreciated.

Bullets - my only weakness! How did you know?

I'm not sure of the english terms for some of the different things, but my electric razor has both the normal straight and the foil one. Works great for the difficult areas.

Is it over yet...

Id most definitely go with a Rotary Head system. Preferably with a progressively finer shave and the ability to be washed in water. I personally use a decent 60 dollar shaver. The advantage to forking more money is they last longer. My first shaver lasted from my first shave at 14 to ironically this year. So 12 years.

"It''s a simple matter of weight ratio, a 5 ounce swallow can''t carry a 1 pound coconut!"

I have a rotary head electric one and it does not impress me all that much.  It was given to me by my wife as a gift and I use it mostly because I am lazy.   It works fine for a quick clean up, but for a night out with the wife (or a night in for that matter....bow chicka bow wow) I will shave with the manual.

But then of course the is the lazy manual shave where you just go down your face and neck or the seriously smooth shave where you shave down and then shave upwards.  The crazuest crap ever though is that it is cheaper to buy a new razor each time then it is to buy replacement heads.  I bought one of those new "Titanium" shavers or whatever the hell it was for like 7 bucks and the heads for my old one were like 12 bucks or something.

Long story short...Manual FTW.

Its Mega-kong if you are wondering.

I use a K-bar and a strip of lether to sharpen it...

Actually I use the Mach 3 and it works fine, but I whave while I'm in the shower (makes it easier to shave my head). I have never found an electric that did not miss some spots or yank the hairs out.

I shoot for the curve... anything above that is gravy.

We''re trapped in the belly of this horrible machine
and the machine is bleeding to death

Beard trimmer, and a Mach 5 doodad with Gillette gel, even though the blades cost more than the GNP of some smaller countries. Nice, smooth shave, and doesn't eat up my face like cheap ass Bic razors do.

I use one of those self-cleaning Braun electric shavers.  Was expensive as fuck but has lasted for years now.  Im not sure why people say electric doesnt get a close cut.  As long as I shave in all directions with it, I get a shave as smooth as any manual razor I have used.  Plus I have shitty skin when it comes to shaving and manual blades cut my face like crazy.
