I wish I had a good group of friends that I could party with but it seems hard to find. I'm just curious as to other people's experiences as far as making friends in an MMO. Which games have the best community and which have the worst? Any thoughts? |

IMO do NOT touch WOW very immature community.SOme games like EVE seemed to be mature and so was vanguard but both are EXTREMELY quiet. It seems alot of peeps just solo in most every game now.I am currently hanging out in shaiya and it seems to be pretty much a mature game.I quite often get peeps asking me to party more so maybe than any game i have played. The problem is that they will logoff and you'll prolly never hear from them again. If your looking to get a full pary to hang with on an everyday basis then you deff need to look to a newer game since older games won't have the noob populace. Both EQ2 and FFXI were designed around party play that is prolly why they were the best.If you are hopping around game to game SHAIYA is still gaining alot of new players everyday,so give it a try and see maybe you'll luck out.Problem is that shaiya is again like most asian games not designed to really be a party game but more so a solo game so it hampers it a bit.I think last chaoa by the same company is also quite new maybe give that one a shot also. BTW i'n not really huge on shaiya but at least there parent company ITSEP or something like that spent 4 million on this game so they do show some effort in there games.Oh and they are F2P so you got nothing to lose by trying shaiya or lastchaos out. |

Never, NEVER speak of friends, if you play a MMOG. They NEVER can help you in RL like your friends in the neighbourhood can do. |

Hey, I've made friends in MMORPGs before. I wouldn't meet up with them and visit them, but in the game world and even OOC I talk to them often. Especially a fellow my age on WoW, we were very alike and we ended up playing several games together, not just WoW. |

I'd say all MMORPGs have good people in them. The trick is simply to find them. And to do so nothing beats - in my opinion, anyway - getting yourself into a good guild. Try this. Take a day off from playing and 1.) Find a site(s), forums etc. that list as many guilds as possible for your game 2.) Visit every single guild website and take a look at their policies, then go to each guilds forums (a good indicator of current activity and maturity level) 3.) Join up with your top pick, and then participate in guild events. It's that simple. I always look for words like "everyone is welcome" and "our major goal is to have fun". But I suspect a lot of others might seek to "crush, dominate, and destroy". Whatever. Spend a few hours making a careful choice and you should do well. GL. |

MMORPG Character Monuments ...When its time for your character to take a well deserved rest... |

To me, a definition of a friend is someone who enjoys your company and cares enough about you that they want you to be happy. Perhaps thats helping move your furniture, perhaps thats spending 4 hours of thier time helping you farm a mat or level an alt. perhaps its giving you 100 gold. Whatever the case , it isnt the action that makes it friendship...its the sentiment. Now, as for how to meet good folks online. Well, in general its basically like RL. You have to go out and interact. IN MMORPG terms that means grouping. When you find someone who seems friendly, just throw them on your in game friends list and keep in contact with them. If you group with them enough you will come in contact with friends they know and become aquainted with them. Not to sound too much like the school councilor, but just Be yourself...unless your a complete jerk. In that case a little deception can go a long way. And when all else fails....Level a female toon. Mate, excuse my bad english and my "drunkness". The problem is a bit deeper. The thing, why here in GER and over there in US people choose to stay alone or childless, to better dive into a virtual reality. |
