Google is your friend.

If you haven't see what these guys/gals are doing, you may want to check it out.

http://www.play-earthrise.com/

There is also an interview at Gaming Shogun. Pay heed to the very first question asked.  My reaction to the guys answer was "Gee, ya think!". I don't mean that in a bad way, either. More in a, somebody had this cash cow and dropped the ball.

"Masthead Studios is Bulgaria’s largest game development company, with a team consisting of young and enthusiastic artists, programmers and game designers with experience from numerous gaming projects. Earthrise is Masthead’s first project, and is likely Eastern Europe’s most ambitious so far."

I didn't know Bulgaria had more than one game development company.

Good luck, and see you in 2012.

In nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritus Sancti.

Screenshots look okay i must say, but the game it self.

Well lets see how it goes.

When it looks bad, like youre not gonna make it, that's when you gotta get mean. I mean just plain mad dog mean. Cause if you lose your head and give up, then you neither win nor live. That's just the way it is.

I've been following this game since november.

Will it suite you people? Who knows - nothing else does.

Pre-cu Fanbois,
There will be no rollback.
Go outside - Get a life,
It's not coming back.
We arn't giving you your game-back.
So go outside, and realize that you've wasted 2 years.

He has a point, the majority of the SWG vets on here will swarm all over a game at launch then 5 minutes later declare it is not SWG and that the devs are shit and the game is shit for not copying a broken buggy SoE game.

I've never seen anyone ever saying they wanted a broken and buggy game. The game was broken and buggy -- this is why it failed. It was never a good thing. This was a failure of the management and development team at SOE to deliver a quality product. IN SPITE OF THIS, it still garnered up to 350K loyal fans.

Not fixng it led to a conintual, slow shrinking of the playerbase.

had they not released it as crap, or of they had fixed the bugs -- the game would be where WoW is today. In order to cover their butts, SOE lied about what was wrong. They falsely claimed players wanted a different game; thus shifting the blame from bad management to the original design.

They then destroyed what was good, and never really fixed the broken nature of the game. THAT is a better deconstruction of what people are saying.

Now, the problem is there are too few new games that even come CLOSE to what SWG was ( in the good sense). That seems to be the problem with the new games coming out.

Earthrise DOES look interesting. We shall see. Either way, no one has ever said they wanted a "broken and buggy game." That is a deliberate falsification of what happened, what people miss, and what people are looking for.

SWG may have been good but it was broken and buggy in PRE-CU, CU and is even more so in NGE. Even if it had been fixed it would never be where WoW is, WoW is where it's at because it has colourful friendly art/graphics and is simple. SWG was complex and therfor requires thinking, something that the majority of MMO gamers are unfamiliar with. So if SoE had fixed SWG i don't think it would ever have had more than 1-2 subscribers.

I think that is the same complete misread of the data, belittles people in general, and is why no one has come close to getting WoW's numbers. Blizzard has you and everyone fooled and chasing the wrong pony.

People aren't looking for a "simple" game, they are looking for a GOOD game. Thus far, WoW fills that bill. The next game to to do that, and offers MORE, will surpass it.
