Disclaimer first: I know these are minor things, but I enjoy them. I know we all hate bunny jumping, but there are ways to avoid it (like lowering stamina in EQ)
So my question is if there will be Fishing, Jumping and Diving in WAR? Seems not diving, but I'm unsure about the other two. |

I'm guessing you might have to wait a little longer to know about these things ;) I'm guessing that there will be fishing, and diving, and I'm almost positive there is jumping, although please correct me if I'm wrong. |

There's jumping for sure...but it wont' do you much good to bunny hope with collision detection on during RvR so atleast we wont' see the complete spastic fighting like in..er a particular other game. They've not announced anything to do with crafting / alternative activities yet so I can't help you on fishing. Not sure what good it'll be unless they have a cooking skill that you gain benefits from ala EQ1's cooking. I know you can swim but I dont think there's any diving since there's not any underwater activities. |

jumping - yes, but it will cost action points (or fatigue, whatever is the term they agree on). Plus there is some talk about bouncing back and possibly even being stunned if you jump into someone (since there is collision detection between players) but this isn't confirmed atm. diving - nope, not at release. No underwater stuff and especially combat. The devs said that it'll probably come in later but not at release. fishing - no idea whatsoever. Crafting in WAR is still a total mystery except that /quote "It is going to be awesome." /end quote

They could always reduce your chance to hit when jumping and/or moving. That seemed to work very well in DAoC as far as I could tell. There were definately no crazy jumpfest cluster-f's like WoW PvP. |

Originally posted by Shifty360 It works really well in DDO too you rarely see anyone but Noobs acting like spastics because they don't realize they need to stand still more sometimes you can't help but keep moving around but most often a good stand off is the best way to polish of an enemy.
There is a Feat you can take that negates the negative to hit when moving but it has some seriously tough pre reqs so you can't really get it until almost 10th or 11th level depending on what race & class you are. Human fighters probably have a chance to get it quick but they really need to focus on better feats than that one..I rarely see fighters with it. Does Rogues a world of good though makes it easier for us to not get totally pummeled. ( doubt however WAR has something like this tho :) ) |

DAoC also had the /stick & /face commands so if someone did try to bunny jump in PvP it didn't make much difference as you auto turned to face them. No idea if these will be implemented into WAR. |

As mentioned above there won't be no diving and there will be jumping; which hopefully means everyone will jump around like idiots, always made me laugh. Regarding fishing I don't really care if they include it, but if they do I hope they make it decently fun. I've played two games where I can remember fishing: Runescape and WoW. In Runescape fishing basically meant you started fishing and then went AFK, this was quite boring; I consider adding fishing in Runescape in that form was a stupid decision. In WoW you had to click the bobbing thing (whatever that's called) when you had the fish hooked. I hated that system, for some reason I always clicked to late or early or something, resulting in me sitting and fishing for over one hour for some stupid quest. If I didn't like Runescape I hated this, you couldn't AFK but was rather forced to endure the extreme boredom of watching the thing bobbing around in the water. If fishing is included I hope we won't see something that's equal to these two. I don't want to sit and wait for the fish to hook, I want to do something. In real life I like to fish, but only when you throw the hook out and reel it in. Hopefully we will see something that's fun. I suppose not all agree with me here, but that's fine. |

In videos I've seen jumping. I've seen swimming across the surface, but no diving. I haven't seen fishing. They should add a Legend of Zelda type fishing system from any of the recent Wii/Gamecube games. It's a fun distraction. Though, spending a whole Alterac Valley match in WoW fishing is a good time... Fish a little, kill someone who is trying to stop your fishing, fish some more... |
