so i have chosen the assassin as my class. i like to roleplay a bit and it has come up so much in pen and paper games (and some online games), are all assassins evil?
personally i dont think so
whats your opinion?

It depends on how you define Assassin. If it's someone who kills for personal gain, then yes, an assassin is evil. If you define an assassin someone who kills through stealth, then it depends. Is taking a life an evil act. I myself believe it depends on circumstance, intent and frame of mind. I only used those 2 examples to keep it simple. |

It comes down to personal conscious and morals. I believe myself not evil because i refuse to harm woman and children, yet I am a contract Assassin. I take the job, do the research, do the deed, and get paid. Judge me how you will. "If the price meets my standards, the man shall fall." |

What about an assassin who will only take missions to assassinate evil overlords, pirates, evil barbarian chieftains, and other people like that. I don't think that would make them evil, but I wouldn't say they are exactly good either. Unless they did it solely for the good of the community. |

the problem i see with the argument against assassins is that everyone else is killing...its just assassins do it in their own unique way
for example. i had a situation where i wanted to poison the well that the bandits were using. only a handful of villagers went near the well and we did not know if they drank from it. i saw no problem in poisoning it and waiting for the bandits to drop like flies but the leader (and tank) of the group insisted that we do it the hard way and fight them (with a very large chance of failure). took 2 hours of arguing to come to an agreement. |
