wahahahaha my chance to totally rag on this game.  I am very excited.  I get to criticize to the devs what appeared to be the waste of money and the horrible art in the game.

LOLi wont be going, just to vent what i feel about the game. There's no point. Deepdown they know it was a bad release, missing half teh features it went on about in the manual. Hell the manual was not very informative either.

I may take another look at the game one day, once all the bugs have been fixed, and i get a clean run (as if i had just purchased the game). Also a fresh server too. Until that day happens i will not even contemplate going back. Whats more is this game may not (but could well do) survive the latest upcomming ones, but with the low population limits on the game thusfar, i carnt see it surviving for long.

What a complete waste that Vanguard turned out to be. Such potential from the team that brought us the original EQ. I tried this game at launch and then again 6 months ago and it was still almost unplayable the 2nd time.  Who cares about a dev chat thats about 3 years too late. AoC and Warhammer will be the final nails in the coffin of this waste of disk space.

God made women because mens brains are broken.

With Silius in charge and the direction he is taking the game and his constant thumbing of his nose at teh players...the game will get worse and worse and GU4 is only the beginning to the decline that is coming to what could have been a really awesome and unique game.  Besides that, this developer chat will be heavily censored and they won't address players real concerns.  So in my opinion it'll be a total joke and waste of time.

Yes I play Vanguard...have been since day one - but not much longer with the direction the game is going.

What direction do you see the game going in? honest question by the way :)

i have not played in the last 3 weeks as i just seemed to be leveling so fast that i was scared to group just incase i levelled even faster. too many games concentrate on getting to max to fast. it takes an age in eq and thats how it should be. Remember gaining a new skill in eq and realising that although you knew the basics you still had to spend time to get your new skill to the point that you could use it.

When will a game come out that slows you down and keeps you playing in mid levels? i hate the rat races. in VG i visited places and found i had already outlevelled them. ok i could start a new char and do it but i love my character, hes an extension of me. Tuor Falconeye of EQ for 7 years. recently gone back and playing as oakmist. i want to slowly build a char and make him a name for himself and a reputation. not just join the other thousands at max level who all seem to have the same equip and weapons and builds.

The direction of the game in the last year has been the elmination of a lot of bugs and an increase in the performance.  I have played so many games where the developers stuck their heads in the sand and ignored major problems and instead devlivered fluff.   VG had MAJOR problems with bugs and performance, and I think thats why a majority of the people left.  I would have to say overall these major bugs have been fixed.  Yes there are still bugs and yes the most glaring are in the quests.

I see the direction of the game in the last year as delivering on some promised features.  The introduction of raiding and the APW dungeon was HUGE.  This involved a whole new set of features to be introduced into the game i.e. an instanced dungeon. (I will not argue the pro's and con's of instancing).  This also involved a new rule set to govern how raids will work.   The first release of the APW had some major problems but the devleopers over came these problems with the last release. With this release we will have overland raiding and flying mounts.  This is not mere fluff.. this is big time devleopment.

So where do I see the direction of the game in the future?  Very good question and thats why I am looking forward to this dev chat.  Yes the dev chats are heavily censored.  Have you ever seen one that was not.  They are not really meant to be a give and take exchange.  Instead they are platform to give people an idea of the direction of the game.

Do you realize that MMORPG.com has not had a feature on VG since Aug 2007?  Perhaps the was a decision which had more to do with SOE, but I am glad they are finally coming out and announcing something here.  This website is not exactly been friendly to the game, and by having a dev chat here I feel SOE is now able to mroe confident about the game.

I am hoping we will get news about Trial Island and perhaps a re-release or at least a free open trial.  I really dont know what to expect.

I played the game for a couple weeks 2 months ago because people said ohh its improved greatly, I also previously played the Open Beta.  I tortured myself playing it cause I knew guys like you would be like OMG you didn't even play the game.  I did and it was HORRIBLE!  Most people on at that time seemed to agree considering it only took 1 minute to create dissentary within the general chat.

  • Level Design BAD
  • Models/Textures/Animations HORRIFIC
  • Low amount of players to interact with
  • System requirements improved (kudos to the programming team)
  • Player Growth Highly Linear, barely any actual choices to make in thier progression
  • Combat was a Yawn Fest.

I don't know maybe you have not such a good pc but the graphic's are nice. Yes VG doesn't have WoW number's but theres actually good amount of players to play with. If you played longer then 2 week's.. you would've found this out. Plus the population is slow and steadily increasing.

Yup.. the game has vastly improved since launch. Player growth highly linear??? Most mmorpg's have none. Atleast you can places points to stats. Plus how they intergrated crafting (which is the best of any mmorpg out there right now) and diplomacy... into your characters growth. Not all to shabby on that front.

Combat was a yawn fest?  In those two week's ,did you even really play the game? Cause Vanguard has one of the best combat systems.. in a mmorpg today. So stop living off your expierence on beta testing and what sounds to be "I played two weeks and really didnt do anything" stint. And give the game a real chance , or simply just shut up on something you barely know about.
