And you opinion is somehow important to us? Lame trolling.

I fail to see how it is trolling to simply put some facts on the table. Maybe some of them can be debated, but most doesn't since there's obviously nothing to prove them wrong.

If you think someone is a troll every time he doesn't appraise the game you're falling for, you are completely missing the whole point of having a forum at first place. It is called a "forum" for a reason. I think what you're looking for is more along the way of "Comments & Feedback" box, where people can't argue on them since they go straight to the developer mail box, (or trash) and where you don't have to debate your point of view.

Forum's are about keeping an OPEN MIND so a PRODUCTIVE DEBATE can occur. Calling other people's opinion not important or worst, "trolling" just because it goes against your way is both close minded, and counter-productive.

Says the person with 8 posts who also just joined the forums recently.

You have to understand, there is a phenomenon with the DF forum in that there is constantly people creating new accounts and the first (and sometimes only) thing they do is attack DF.  Most of us suspect they are the same folks, who just keep getting banned over and over, but the fact remains, their principle mission seems to be to troll this forum. (not saying you are btw)

So many of us are very skeptical of posters with short history here who do nothing but dredge up the exact same thing others have posted before.

Now, back to the OP's list of "facts" since I don't want to be off topic.  While its true the developers haven't shown us many of the features on the list, one problem with his argument is, just because he hasn't  seen them, doesn't mean they don't exist.

See, we're sort of at a stalemate, neither of us can really prove the other person wrong.

And so what if people want to keep hoping for DF to one day be released? Nothing wrong with dreaming, and it certainly isn't hurting any of the folks who decry the game to let them keep waiting for it.

No, I actually view the OP as a trolling attempt, rather than reasonable debate as you are suggesting.

It's all good if you see it that way. Like i said: It's a judgement call. What i'm afraid though, is if the GM of this website sees this the way you see it because then, i don't see how we will be able to contribute to any debate if every time we post something negative or pessimistic about a game, we're thrown into the Troll area.

I must say i really hate censorship of all sorts. We're supposed to be living in the "civilized" part of the world, where our government doesn't second guess over our shoulder which web site we can go to, and what we should be able to write/read into them. It's a very annoying trend for me to see those popular forums becoming more and more this way. Let people say what they have to say for heaven sake, and don't read them if you don't like it. (I might be new here, but i skimmed through the options and saw that you could block or ignore poster if you wish. So add them on your ignore list if what they post doesn't make any sense)

See i'm here to contribute the best i can to the overall debate about MMO's in general. I don't seek to be right or wrong, simply to evolve my own ideas about MMO gaming, and hopefully bring enough materials on the table to help others evolve their own as well. So i'll get very itchy every time someone is shut down, banned or what not for simply stating an opinion. Wether he is the 500 ones to post it doesn't matter: We must be ready to bear with the fact that we're going to read and debate the same thing all over again during the course of a forum life. I really don't like the fact that you seem to be willing to discard my opinion simply because i joined just a few days ago. Just take my words (and others) for what they are. The number of post you got doesn't make them any more or less relevant in my book.

The OP dont debate. Its a list of negativism which only purpose is the downtalk Darkfall as a game and Aventurine as a game developing company.

I recall seeing screen shots of Dark & Light and getting very excited.  Even more so when I read the FAQ and feature list of the game.  Then there was even a few in game videos of the terrain and view distances.  I was already reaching for my wallet to grab the old credit card, but still past experience told me to wait and see.

The point I am trying to make is that a few screenshots is not proof of something being awesome, great or even something that is going to be released (see Gods & Heroes).  It is nice to see darkfall finally stepping out of the closet after so long to touch base with reality, but it still has a very long way to go before it sheds the vaporware stigma is has.

Really, devs can post all they want on their webpages about how awesome their game is going to be, but a free screenshots and some words don't make that a reality.   This also wouldn't be the first game were rabid fans have very thin skin dealing with naysayers about a game that is very questionable to say the least.

I love what the devs are hyping about this game, but so far that is all it is.  The game honestly is sharing similar characteristics with other high profile games that aimed high and fell hard.   I hope the game turns out well just so that there is more variety in the genre if nothing else.  For me, maybe it brings back a little of the early Ultima Online magic from years ago.

Hell was build for heroes.

They give us plenty of information about gameprogress, but for those who don't care if its release or not don't go and read every news that has been published. So they only look at the vids and draw their conclusion from it.

We have 850 screens and a few videos, Many of the screens and vids have dev-comments behind telling us wich progress that have been done.

But you trolls are not the only one who whants more information, 50k others at the official forum whants it to. But we know how the devs works and they have told us why they do like they do. And we trust their words when we read it in devchats, interviews and common newsupdates. Wich you don't. With the lack of trust I can't even see why some people even are here. More then create trollthreads.

This has been stated many times;

But the game itself has not been in acctually development since 2001. 2003 they moved to greece and by 2004 they had a staff covering most areas. And why can't a game be in development longer than others?.

It is pitty that people find satisfaction by misbehaving on a gaming site.

I'm skeptical of it too, but why do you even bother posting this kind of thing? Everyone is aware that the Darkfall devs are very tight lipped, for what reason we can only speculate. For most games, a lot of stuff in that list doesn't come out until beta or later. They're a very weird company, I'll admit though.

-snip-

Thank you for informing me, but I would like to point out that I am actually supportive of darkfall, and I very much would like it to be released. When I mentioned that they were a weird company, I am referring to the stuff I've read about their military connections, some contradictory stuff they've said, etc etc.

50k others at the official forum whants it to.

It's reality check time again.

It took them all of 7 full years to get 50,000 people registered on those boards. How many of those do you think are even around anymore or care?  MAYBE 50%?  So you can go ahead and cut that number down to 25k. And it's probably even less than that.

Compare that to games like conan and Warhammer that both have over 500,000 people signed up just for testing.
