Lord of the Rings Online

this game takes the cake for biggest/longest patch time.

10000 files to download (roughly 6-10 gig) with a fresh install from discs from the release last year.

i am at 1700 files and its still 0%.

getting so sick of this that every MMO i patch now will be burnt to a disc

Took me 5 hours to update Vanguard (ATLEAST, im sure it took a bit more than that)

And it took me 2 hours to update Lord of the Rings Online on my friends computer with the CD I bought a month or two after release...

Do keep in mind there's been Book 9, Book 10, Book 11, and now Book 12... its gonna take a while, but it shouldn't take that long.

Yeah I think for 3 or so Bucks a MMO should mail you a Disk that is Uptodate.

Its really anoying to have Bought a game Years ago and Hafta Redownload a File thats LARGER then the Original Instal..

Haha yeah thats true, best thing to do is just keep it on all night and wait till morning...

But I agree with the 3 bucks to mail to an up to date disk, but think of it this way.... its gonna cost what... 10-15 bucks for 1-3 day shipping?

So in those 3 days you can just download them all....

Or if its for like 5 bucks its gonna take atleast a week to get to you.

My worst patching experience ever was patching Anarchy Online a few years after launch on a 56K connection.   **shudder**

If you are starting from scratch your definitly looking at a "leave it running overnight" patch session to get going on LoTRO. 

Weirdly enough, today my free Planetside - Core Combat trial ran out. After some discussion with me & myself I decided it was time to come back and start fresh with Lord of The Rings Online - Shadows of Angmar.

I purchased the digital download of the game around 6pm central time, and it is now 10:30. The game download is currently at 90% so i'm hoping that quite possibly I will be able to get the game atleast to the starting point so I can type in all of the names I enjoy using that will most likely not work because of my long lost evil twin who always uses the same names. 

So yes, I agree it was/is a very long download time. Hopefully the digital version is updated.

EDIT: Also, if anyone plays on the Elindilmir server give me a shout.

The server seems to have a nice forum community and in-game RP community, so it is where I will reside.

i am on 56k internet for the next 6 days due to Lord of the rings taking up my download limit

Well, I have 8mbit limitless connection in a tiny village in Hungary, I'm surprised to see how bad connections are in some places .... cheer up, technology should be there soon :)

Yup, I'm on Elendilmir server, and atm I to am re-updating LOTRO.  Had a run in with some bad files on my PC from a previous windows install.  Ended up having to format and start from scratch the other day...lost so much stuff...

My primary char is Janika a lvl 50 Minstrel....currently just working on deeds for now, maybe someday get them all done before an exp.

That would be a terrible idea... Let's make MORE garbage for the world everytime there's an update patch... however when expansions come out to stores, it SHOULD have all updates for the original with it.
