QFT idk y some many ppl have problems with it and whine like babies, and especially people who have never used it. If you have a decent to good rig u should have no probs.

The main problem with Vista is XP; XP is just an all round better performer, period.

And Windows 2000 is even better.  But Microsoft forced the upgrading removing support to Windows 2000 to some features.  Like is tryiing to do with Vista, to force gamers to upgrade to a bloated OS (more bloated than XP).

By the time they get close to weeding out XP, windows Vienna will be ready.

For 32 bit I'd go XP all the way. Sorry but Vista 32 bit is just a plain waste of money IMHO. If you got 4gb of ram and a 64 bit cpu I would take Vista 64 over XP 64 especially because Vista 64 now has just as good if not better driver support for newer hardware then XP 64.

Overall if you are patient and can wait for 2009-2010 to come in then pick up Microsoft's next OS which is set to debut within that time frame. Basically it'll be what Vista should of been and what Microsoft promised and then took out of Vista. XP is more then enough to hold you over until then if you don't want or need a 64 bit OS and don't have 4gb or more of ram.

Games I've played:WAR, LOTRO, Tabula Rasa, AoC, EQ2, WoW, Vangaurd, LoTRO, D&DO, Lineage 2, Saga Of Ryzom, EvE Online, DAoC, Guild Wars, Star Wars Galaxies, Hell Gate London, Auto Assault, Grando Espada ( AKA SoTNW ), Archlord, CoV/H.

Games I Am Currently Playing:

EVE Online

Games running on Vista usually require more RAM, but good PC are shipped with ~2GB RAM now, so it's not an issue.

That said... Do you want to have benefit of DirectX10 or do you prefer being stuck with DirectX9c forever ?...

IMO, choose Vista. I'm using it for gaming (although i'm no longer a big PC gamer, i'm more a console gamer now) and i'm also using it as a workstation and a server (waiting on server2008 release).

It works wonderful.

Choose vista, this will make one IE6 less roaming on the internet.

I don't want to start an argument here, but Vista still has many more bugs than XP. Not to mention, with recent patches, it has compatibility problems with certain third-party software that used to work before the patch.

I still use XP. Personally, I won't even consider Vista for another year at least unless MS pulls off a miracle between now and then.
