If you try to fail, but succeed, which have you done?

What started this mayhem of speculation over invisible walls in this game? It seems like someone just up and got up and said, " man, i think i will make a rumon about invisible walls."

Thoughts and Suggestions

1. There is over two months left of polishing. With the sudden attention of invisible walls, Funcom might possibly see an issue and do something about it. This however, could cause a delay in the game if this happened.

2. No one should cancel their preorders until the rumors are confirmed or debunked. Think about this in school terms. Do i not study for a test because its rumored to be easy? No, you don't, you study anyway.

3. Listen to the people whom are supplying facts and not speculative ideas and shady information. " I know a lot of things and because of these rules, i cannot say." Just dont listen to comments like that, and wait for confirmation.

4. Wait for a month or so to make a decision of your own. Open beta soon, so get ready to munch on that.

5. With two months left or so, and us just findining out about supposid invisible walls, that would possibly mean we can find out bad things about other hyped games.

If there is "invisible walls in the game", it will not be removed by release. Its probably there to stay. It was an intentional design by the developers. Some people has tried to make an excuse for its acceptance (i even heard someone say, "if there isn't invisible walls, no one could play the game because of th ehigh resources." Thats just sillinies.  If you need to make invisible walls because it would tax your PC, then you need to rewrite the code.

In my opinion, if the invisible walls are a fact in AoC, then I think its more of developer laziness than anything else. But, like I said, if it does exist, then it is intentional and wont be removed.

2. No one should cancel their preorders until the rumors are confirmed or debunked. Think about this in school terms. Do i not study for a test because its rumored to be easy? No, you don't, you study anyway.

The invisible wall issue is enough for me not to play it. Hence, some of the players cancelling the pre-order. Im glad I cancelled it anyways, because Im usually die hard against pre ordering MMOs but I got a tad bit carried away with this one.  So far it is indeed a rumour but those who have played the game so far is skirting around the issue, so it may very well be a fact.

3. Listen to the people whom are supplying facts and not speculative ideas and shady information. " I know a lot of things and because of these rules, i cannot say." Just dont listen to comments like that, and wait for confirmation.

All i have heard are speculations so far; whether it's from fanbois or whiners. I have yet heard any real confirmed answers about this.

4. Wait for a month or so to make a decision of your own. Open beta soon, so get ready to munch on that.

Thats great advice I usually give everyone when it comes to MMOs.  Give it one to three months and then try it.

5. With two months left or so, and us just findining out about supposid invisible walls, that would possibly mean we can find out bad things about other hyped games.

Indeed. Very true.  Case in point. Ive beta WAR; due to NDA i cant say stuff about it in detail (hell, I guess im not suppose to even mentioned i was in NDA, but I was warned as a moderator once for deleting a thread of someone breaking Dark and Light NDA so the rules here about NDAs are a bit laxed).

But with that said, WAR was a letdown so far. (not counting the bugs..im talking about the core of the game)

i would just like to know how bad the invisible walls are, if there their at all. To me, is seems like it can't be that big of a deal since people have been testing it for months now and were just hearing about it now.

What do i mean by how bad? I mean like, i do not want to be walking in very narrow landscapes blocked off by giant walls, or crossing a small bridge but not being able to go off to the side. The day i get video confirmation is the day i will start doubting this game.

I dont think it'll be that horrible in terms of invisible walls at every corner but in the MMORPG world, invisible walls are usually a no no.

Having un climbable mountains as a wall is one thing or a zone is another. But making you progress through a linear type of gameplay for a MMO is a whole other beast.

First I find out the crafting issue is something not to brag about and now this.

So far, Oblivion is more open ended than AoC is. Pretty weird for a MMO...and a upcoming AAA one at that.

MM, Oblivion is definitly open ended, except for frequent load times. But oh well, we will have to wait and see. Im trying to snoop around the internet for any confirmation on this crysis.

"We''re not making a game for Trekkies" Daron Stinnett, Perpetual Entertainment

LOL, who are you going to believe that says if there are invisible walls in the game or not?  Many beta testers have publically said the same thing for weeks.  AoC read these forums and the official forums.  This question has been ask by many on the official forums.  No dev will touch this question.  Considering Funcom is quick to silence rumors that are false and this rumor has been around for weeks, that should answer your question.

"I'll take MMO disasters for $50, Alex."

"This MMO release in 2008 lost half its player base in the first month after massive hype of non existent features"

"What is Age of Conan?" ...

"Correct, for $50, Ed2099"!

It's still really hard to say.  It's very possible that the invisible wall rumor is true to an extent and Funcom doesn't feel the need to address it because they have stated very clearly how the first 20 levels are an extremely linear experience.  Maybe I haven't looked hard enough but I haven't really found any "leaks" from anyone higher than lvl 20.

Waiting on Aion and Warhammer online.

There has to be invisible walls the that's were the zone ends I do agree they should cover it up with a mountain or something in anarchy online they have theses sort of invisible walls were go on too the next zone as far as I can tell aoc is just like anarchy online just a more advance version. its not a big deal to me as long as the zones are big enough but that is just a limit of the system it isnt to me like they really want walls its just very hard not having something like that.
