you mean delayed again from 2005 to 2006 to 2007 to 2008 Q1, to Q2, to Q3/4....

This isnt exactly shocking news.  Not really a good idea to try to battle warhammer online or the new wow expansion either but again its not like Khaeon hasnt made bad mistakes all ready in terms of TCoS...

(For those who dont know Khaeon is the developer of Spellborn, but for whatever reason they use the name Spellborn International Ltd on their website)

Almost every major title for the last 5-6 years has been released at 1 of 2 times of the year:

The 1st and most popular time, especially for international titles, is before xmas.

The other time is at the begining of the summer to coincide with the end of the schoolyear.

Anyone who didnt see this coming is either a) a new to MMos or b) too naive to understand business. The bad news here is IF it is not ready by xmas expect it to be delayed approx 6 more months to the end of the schoolyear.

Total nonsense,

LOTRO released in April

Vanguard released in Febuary

The burning crusade released in January

PotBS released in January

D&D online released in febuary

I could maybe give you AoC as it released in May.

TCoS was delayed for 2 reason's and 2 reason's only,

1.To release worldwide with the publisher for the states.

2.They more than likely got a cheque from this company and didnt have to release an unfinished game.

Dont forget this is a small devolpement team that dont have an endless budget and they have said before if they have to release the game unfinished if the cash had run out then they would and continue to build the game from there,Expect TCoS to release when either it is done or the cash is gone nothing to do with what time of year it is,maybe you are the 1 being a bit naive.

Ill begin by stating that many of the games you listed are not "major" releases as I stated. 1 is an expansion not a game. And most execpt 1 game were considered failures and therefor support my theory that games that want sucess will release at 1 of the 2 times I mentioned. If you look at the list on the left of this site, how many western style games do you consider sucuessful? I say western because the eastern games do not worry about Xmas and also have a different schoolyear. The number of sucessful games are very limmited, and almost all of them released at 1 of the 2 times I mentioned. There are some exceptions, like Lotro and Everquest.

Furthermore, some of the games you mentioned were pushed back for virtually exactly the same relase TCoS is being pushed back. Namely Potbs , who also had publishing problems and didnt acquire sony as a publisher until very late in beta.

Lets look at major titles and sucessful ones as well:

Pre xmas releases:

WoW, DAoC, Asherons call, Ultima Online, FFXI( western release), EQ2

Released to coincide with the end of the western schoolyear:

SWG, EVE, AoC, AO, Planetside

So you see, if you want sucessful MMos, you release at 1 of those 2 times. Its not "Total Nonsense" and it may not be the reason it was pushed back but it certainly made it much easier to do. You dont find it a bit coincidental it was pushed back from "early summer" to "late q3-q4"? Its not coincedence, because I am right.

"How nice . Really, I am so surprised. Oki my Dutch friends, I will play AoC. Usually it takes to me about 2/3 years to be bored about mmorpg but good luck anyway. I expected a bit more fron next few monts but ..... . Aww #@!$ it, my new comp is prepared for AoC so gogogo Stygians .

edited.

I see next problem. American market is worth less than European (difference is small, about 300 millions $, reason is low prize of $ but nevermind, it is not story about economy).

Company prefer grab new market, ye it is sensible but ... . Soon we will have few new mmorpgs. WAR, AoC and who know what else.

To be honest it looks like suicidal move, without big marketing action it will nearly invisible between X new titles. Yes, of course TCoS will works some time but I am afraid they loose a lot of customers just due date of releasing. Q2 was last chance for sensible entrance, later it just will too late.  If I am right noone cared about European release of WoW and servers infrastructure (game was playable without some @#$ after year or something). Really I do not see reason to wait for USA publisher, that is lame.  Next thing, is it sensible to compare beta test to releasing game and improving througt patches? .  "

It is official apology, I was dumb. Never, but really never touch AoC.  Do not touch it, never! I feel like a moron now and it should be enough.  I hope War (till releasing TCoS) and TCoS will not same mistake.

2 months in hell, I heard even Vanguard was better at releasing, thought it is impossible to be worst, i was wrong.

Whole my guild leaving AoC, it says everything i think.
