Some guildmates and I have gotten into a rather heated debate concerning RP servers.  What do you guys think.

why do humans build, because it isn''t there

no, no, no, and a bit more no tossed in.

the people who head there think RP must involve butchering old english.   general all around lameness.  It's enough to make me want to choke people through my monitor.

old english rarely and truely rarely ever adds anything to a roleplay.

“You don’t want my hospitality?” Gebhard asked, bristling with mock umbrage.

“No,” Gregory said. “But with what I make at the bureau, I don’t want my wife getting used to it.”

MMORPG Character Monuments

...When its time for your character to take a well deserved rest...

Well, I agree that voice chat certainly means less imagination and thus less immersion. However, I believe that server designation doesnt mean good roleplay. Roleplay is set by the players. If the players like to roleplay with voice chat..I say, more power to em

I see no reason you cant use Voicechat to role-play in a MMO. I will say tho butchering English to include The's and Thou's and Foresmutche's is not true role-playing its just garbled rubbish.

Role-playing CAN be in standard English you just got to act like yourself them immerse yourself in the role for example i could say this, " HALT!!!!! WHO GOES THERE? BE THE ENEMY OF BE THE FRIEND ANSWER QUICKLY KNAVE".  And sound like a total Nerd , or i could say this, " HALT!!! WHO GOES THERE? FRIEND OR FOE ANSWER ME STRANGER". There still role-playing but it at least sounds better don't it and non English speakers will have no trouble understanding it to. In the end Role-playing is just that playing your part and butchering English is Unnecessary.

As for using unofficial Mods well id say no to them but it also depends on the mods and what they do.

People who get too "into" a game are soo creepy omg. Also i think there should be voice chat cam chat in all games on all servers. That way you know who you are talking to.

Ya know.. I might not have played many MMORPG's since hmm, SWG-NGE, but I haven't really heard "thou" being used since back in UO around 1999...

One of the great myths that anti RP'ers love to spread I believe...

Well, I like to spread the myth about every PvP'er being a leetboy griefer... guess that makes us even

I really don't care, like someone else said, if they want to chat, more power to them.  I don't and therefore wouldn't use it.

Luckily, I don't play fantasy so I don't have to worry about "thee" and "thou".
