I don't like it. 10 seconds ago I was going to post that it made no real difference and was just a great feature for those who cared, however I realized that this would encourage more players to attack other players on PvP FFA servers where the key to making them work and making them more fun to play on is to encourage players to police themselves.

If this is just for the mini-games then it is a great feature. Outside of mini-games it is potentially one of the absolutely worst things they could do to FFA-PvP servers.

can do it in guildwars. go ahead and type /deaths.

but its not quite the same cause pvp chars often get deleted and remade.

"In EVE, no one gives a damn about a fair fight." - chafin

DAOC had an entire web site set up where you could look up your individual won/loss records, as well as the kill records of everyone else, organized by guilds etc.

I always liked the feature, was fun to look up who was the most effective killers, (wasn't me) and added to the game.  I've got no complaints if AOC is going to do the same.

As for ganking on a PVP server, yes, that's whats supposed to happen on a FFA server.  WOW for some reason got very carebear, and players worried more about completing their quests than killing others on the "pvp" servers. (using that term very loosely)  Therefore is was not uncommon to not only not be attacked by the other side, but sometimes they would even assist you.

For those who don't like being killed, the normal servers are the way to go.

Exactly.  I grew so tired of hearing people in WoW tell me how all they wanted to do was level their toon in peace.  They were tired of being ganked.  Well guess what, you chose a PvP server dude.  It is your fault.  You have no excuse to cry about it.  Carebears are the ones who are destroying PvP.  The point of a PvP server is to be able to kill everyone.  It is kill or be killed.  If you choose to be killed, that is your fault, and your fault only.

PvP is supposed to be encouraged on PvP servers isn't it?  There is very little sense of pride any more, it's just a bunch of whining little babies.  I got so upset after Alliance kiled Thrall for the first, second, and third time in a month span.  But guess what, people were so involved in questing and grinding that they wouldn't even bother mounting any sort of counter-offensive.  No, I have better things to do, like pick my butt on this Molten Core run, or whatever they were doing.  When I played DAoC right after it was released, everyone would jump if our lands were being attacked.  No matter what we were doing, we jumped immediately.

God, I hate cry babies.

after playing the pvp weekend where even 6v6 was a total game of numbers, ie 1 person could never take 2 people on squarely. And knowing this game is FFA pvp. I can confirm that this game is goinging to be GANKSville.

That's not entirely true.  If both players are ready for you, it's possible that you won't stand a chance, but PvP is more than just a game of standoffs.  The element of surprise can sometimes turn the tide of a battle that couldn't be won any other way.

I took on several spellcasters and killed them in succession.

i was one of those people that just wanted to quest in peace why? well during the first year of WoW i was all about PvP and killing....3 years later i perfered Arena, and battlegrounds so questing was just a means for me to get to what i called "real" PvP

No way in hell id roll on a PvE server...sometimes those little gnomes just needed to DIE
