In the latest Question of the Week on the Earthrise forums, Masthead Studios answers questions about the in-game economy. Will there be a "auction house" that covers the whole world, a single central market or will we see a more decentralized area based economy? If the latter is the case, will we have to 'haul' resources and items if we want to move them between areas? Do you have any particular mechanics planned for those players who would like to be traders? Read more here. |

Not having regional markets will break it for me.. Central AH's take away a significant player opportunity of playing the markets, buying low from the source and hauling the goods to distant lands to make a profit, etc... Like say, in EvE.
Looks like its faction based.. pretty much like how AO does it:
"Current affairs in the world have segregated the world economy into Continoma and Noir markets. Each market will provide similar tools and features to the players associated with each faction, but not every item ... will be welcome for sale everywhere. ... Neutral players will have access to both markets, so they will be able to buy items from players of one faction and sell them to players of another faction, reaping profits from the difficulty intended with the limited markets."
Not too bad.. although still not really the right economic model for what I had in mind. Grr @ eve's faults or i'd be playin that.

Neutral players will have access to both markets, so they will be able to buy items from players of one faction and sell them to players of another faction, reaping profits from the difficulty intended with the limited markets Except for the fact that its a FFA PVP game where you attempt to do that with goods and you wind up getting ganked and looted losing all of the goods with this type of game crafting will never be important |
